Has anyone noticed this happening in certain gears? I hear a high pitched whistle in 5th gear from 40-50 mph, then in 6th gear from 60-65. It only happens in coast and float condition, never in drive. It is worst in float.

Not trying to dig up an old post but as some info for you guys I just purchased a 2018 TRD OR 4x4 DCLB and with less than 200 miles its back at the dealer for the rear diff whining particularly while decelerating between 55-50 as i've seen a few people mention. Dealer acknowledged it as an issue and are taking care of it. Not sure if they are replacing the whole diff or their plan, but they are fixing it at least with no argument.

When I first had the TSB performed it was an improvement but I could still detect a slight the howl. Now that it's been about 10k miles I honestly don't even notice it anymore, it doesn't bother me at all (and it drove me nuts before). I guess you could say I'm satisfied. Man, that first 40k miles before the TSB I was ready to drive it off a cliff!

I can't say improved or worse. It's just different. Happens at slightly higher speeds now. Maybe slightly quieter but actually shows up at some new places in the speed range post tsb.

    Six year old thread revival.
It was found that it is simply harmonics on very few vehicles.
