By any chance do you have the part number for the old headlight and the new one to compare them to? My 2009 was involved in an accident and as a result one of the headlights was replaced. Like you, I didn't like that they didn't match anymore, so I replaced the other one out of my own pocket to get them to look the same. I just attributed the difference to age and didn't think the compare part numbers. I would be curious to know the difference.

Your truck is worth more than $14k before the accident to begin with. My 2009 is a TRD Sport DCSB 4x4 with 135,000 miles on it, and before my accident I was quoted a trade in value of $24k. I agree that $6-8k or whatever is ridiculously low. If nothing else, sell it yourself? You should be able to get above $14k for it anyway going that route.

I'm not sure the old part number but I did a search on ebay and found a pair of them, and they were different then the part number that toyota currently had. there is a extended warranty on the headlights, and if your in the US you should be able to get a new headlight if the amber lens is bubbled at all. The difference in them is with the amber lens. I could buy one myself, and if the accident was my fault I would be completely okay with doing so, but I feel like I should not be out on this at all. If they wrote the truck off there would be a pay out and I would be driving a new truck 2 days later, which is what happened to the other gentleman who caused the accident, which pisses me off because all I want is my truck to be how it was before the accident, but after 4 months it really starts to get to you, and it's completely ridiculous! I wish they wrote the truck off! I would have bought it back, and slapped some new headlights on, a raptor grill and a metal bumper. But believe it or not the claim is over $11k now with the rental vehicle charge, which was crazy, they waited 7 weeks for a aftermarket headlight to save $50, and still had to get the Toyota one in the end, and that still doesn't match. I'm waiting for a reply from the claims adjuster now and if it's not what I want to hear I'm going to get legal advice. Just has gone on way too long.

I will be selling it myself when the time comes, but the thing that scares me is in my province you have to declare if there was ever $2000 or more in damages done to a vehicle, and the accident will show up on a carfax. I know if I was looking for a used Taco, and went to see one and found out it had $6000-$8000 in damages to the front end I would turn around and walk the other way, or want a huge savings. If others were selling for say $15,000 I would only want to pay $10,000 or somewhere in that area. And trading it in, most dealers won't touch it because they'll be left with it on there hands for a long time, or lowball you like I just saw with the $6-8k range, which makes sense, I used to sell new and used vehicles and we would never take it on trade, and if we did it would be given to us so we could give it away to a wholesaler.

I filed a diminished value claim with my previous truck, The truck was hit after not even owning 30days and suffered 10k worth of damage and spent 2 months in the repair shop. The claim was handled after the repairs like you stated and after going back and forth I walked away with 2k. Once you open a diminished value claim they have to work on it until its closed so keep working towards what you thin is fair. I actually wish I would have got 4k because when I went to trade it in everyone mentioned the accident and I was always 2k short of covering my losses.
