I'm installing a boost gauge on my '14. Where do I hook up the light bulb wire so it will dim with the rest of the factory cluster?

You can use the illumination wires for the HVAC controller, it just pops out. I used this image when installing my Fly-Eye lights. [IMG]

You've got to use both wires due to the Tacoma using PWM for lighting control. You also must have a gauge that has a separate lighting circuit and you can't use either of these two wires for anything else with the gauge (like gauge power). Since you're using it for boost, the gauge may be mechanical and the only wiring will be for lighting so you're probably in good shape.

Many gauges have a single ground and a hot that powers the gauge as well as another lead that comes out to a dimmer for the lighting. You must use a gauge that has a lighting circuit that has its own positive and negative lead.

You likely will also need to use LED lights for your gauges. I used the supplied incandescent bulbs with my gauges and they were barely visible when the factory gauges were glaring. You can get drop in LED's that will fit the gauge socket and will dim at the same rate as the factory gauges.

I've got oil pressure and temp gauges on mine and ran into these issues. I tapped into one of the pushbutton switches on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. I also used two fuseholders and put a fuse in both wires feeding the gauges. One wire will always be 12V to the body of the truck, the other wire will vary between a few volts to 12V to the body of the truck. If you have it dimmed pretty far, both wires will be close to 12V when measured from the wire to the body. A fault in either wire would cause issues. I have mine fused at 1 or 2 amps I believe, I've only got 2 LED's so they don't pull anything!
