    Enough for now
I tried applying the inline backlight harness today and could not figure it out for my ss3 Max fog lights. I’ve been looking for installation videos. I’m also not the best with lighting and didn’t want to go unhooking anything I could on my headlights.

thanks @illnevertell10 for the harness, brand new.

I have the plug and play harness from DD made for my Elite fogs. Spade will not plug and play into the connector I have on my fogs.

My understanding of the spade is that it’s a small jumper w spade on one end and male 1 pos amp on the other. And you would disconnect it if supplying 1 pos amp from a plug and play solution. That’s how I make the stuff I sell.

maybe post a photo? I assume you just need to disconnect the spade stuff? Unless the DD plug and play is to a spade which would be a lot of connections just to get a backlight.

If you purchased DD fogs with the backlight option they come with a Y wiring harness with a spade and the spade along with the wire taps go together to tap into power. DD fogs without the backlight option don’t come with a Y harness (I have both).

Dave said it better than me, the plug and play harness goes to the spade.

Does anyone who has connected the backlight using DD’s harness have a pic of where it goes? Or a more detailed explanation than what DD provides.

Damn I wish I saw this thread before I ordered backlit fogs and the harness. I thought I was going crazy. I don’t really want to splice into my harness either. Has anyone taken power from their OEM LEDs and had any issues?

That's the MAX pod, you're safe drawing power from anywhere you can get it when feeding SS3 backlights.

Does the DD harness work with the OEM halogens w/ regular DRL, not the ‘L’ LED DRL? like the light found on a SR/SR5?

The DD harness I have seen mates with the TRD DRL connector. This would not be present on SR/SR5 trucks. I don't know if they have a product for SR/SR5. We have a thread for this topic, though, as it gets "complicated" since Turn and DRL are a single wire on SR/SR5.

Thanks. So how/where would I tap for the backlight on a SR5?

Short answer is the 3 position turn/park/ground connector where DRL rides on turn. But that means backlight flashes with turn and would go off with parking lights, neither of which is entirely planned for. Read the thread, *it's complicated*. The easy button is INJ in your engine bay fuse box using add a fuse but no way to turn that off.

My truck is an 18 TRD OR with Halogens that I am going to be upgrading next week to OEM LED headlights utilizing the FBC conversion kit. How does the DD plug and play harness interact with the FBC harness?

Will all of these components place nice in your opinion? Looking to upgrade fogs while I am already installing headlights and want to plan accordingly.

The integrated OEM LED conversion harness provides DRL and Park which can then be combined with diodes and sent to a backlight using the SS3 harness.

    https://fbchs.square.site/product/t...true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=4
    and
    https://fbchs.square.site/product/d...-harness/12?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=true

You would only have to decide on

dual grille headlight harnesses with 2x12" single backlight harnesses
    OR
single grille headlight harness with dual output backlight harness

The difference there being cost and a wire across the grille.

Dave helped me out when I had this issue installing my ss3 max w/ backlight. Dave was super patient with me and helpful and I highly recommend his products. I had an SR5 without the "L" DRL light. Managed to get it done all plug and play. Now when I have lights off, fog lights also go completely off but they act as a blinker in that setting. When I turn it on to auto, back light comes on unless I turn on the fog lights switch. In which case the fogs turn yellow. When I throw it into parking lights, the backlights come on with my DRL (little amber glow towards the inner part of the lights). Then when I turn on my headlights, my fog lights again go into backlight mode, unless ofcourse I turn the fog lights on, in which case they go yellow. I love the look it gives my truck and I'm grateful to both Diode Dynamics & Dave for all their help in getting it done.

Thank you very much for this information, I will be going dual with 2x12"s. Is the DD Plug and Play harness no longer required for this path?

It would not be required, correct. But you could use it and the base OEM LED conversion harness as a lower cost option. Their pricing on that piece is vastly superior as I believe they had the harness made in a factory so they can offer one pair for $20 whereas the same thing for me takes a bunch of time and costs 5x ish.

Appreciate the honesty. I am kicking myself for purchasing the base kit already but I would prefer to go the route of utilizing your products.

One last question as I may sell my base kit, does your DD Plug and Play harness plugs into the male spade connector on the foglight harness that comes with the lights to hook up to factory fog connector?

I can understand the desire for an integrated solution, I feel the same way myself. But, at the same time, it's just wire and terminals so not like it really matters unless you truly care about tidiness for stuff you can't see.

The DD harness goes to a spade which goes to the amp which feeds the backlight. My stuff goes directly into the AMP. I'll grab a photo.

I upgraded to OEM headlamps w Dave’s harness. Trying to figure out the best solution as well to wire the back light on the elites if I decide to order. Would rather not splice into wires myself.

OR Im going to just save and wait on the new Baja LED SAE’s that were just released…
