Just got this in the mail. Feds must have dropped the hammer on them as they are offering to replace the LED’s with halogen bulbs.
    3D999D91-5F76-4C80-B9D8-7CC703AD946D.jpg
    Also this from their website:
APPLICATION NOTICE: LED bulbs are legal in the USA for Fog Light use only. Not compliant with DOT / FMVSS108 and not street legal in the USA for Headlights. Legal for off-road use in ATV, snowmobile, and off-road racing use. International legality varies by country. Note: This usage regulation is not unique to Diode Dynamics bulbs. All LED bulbs from all brands, regardless of marketing claims, are prohibited from street use in halogen headlights in the USA.

This is just a “save our ass” type of thing. No different than the “off road use only” label on every aftermarket part. Just ignore it and keep your bulbs.

I seriously doubt that the halogen bulbs that they would send are worth what I paid for the LED’s.:annoyed:

I appreciated the heads up from DD and the laughs about my free halogens/free trip back for my SL1s

Then she went in the rubbish. I like my LEDs and I'll ride dirty

Keeping my SL1s. Im tired of being X-rayed by other drivers blue-white headlights, so this helps me combat them even better.

Yup. That seems totally fair to all the normal drivers on the road

Between misaligned headlights, improperly done HID retrofits, and now LED bulbs in Halogen housings, it seems like every other car on the road is blinding oncoming traffic.

I doubt anyone will remove theirs regardless of the notice.

I got my letter yesterday. I removed the SL1 hi & low and refit my DDM HIDs to the low and OEM high. This wasn't at all related to the letter though. I have extra H9 bulbs to put in lows if I want, but that's also basically driving with hi beams on. so... eh

I like the SL1 lights. The main issue for me was performance over distance per crashnburn's review. I also moved to more of a rural area so it's now more important to me. I am keeping the SL1s in the truck as backups.

Also, I properly measured and aligned my headlights at 25' immediately after to make sure I'm not blinding folks.

So, do they plan on giving a refund? Or just give you OE spec halogens and keep the $ and the LEDs when you send them back?

I just bought these last week. They don’t have anymore oncomming glare than my wifes Acura RDX or inlaws Mazda CX-5. I paired them with the oem toyota led fogs and fogs seem brighter.

I already emailed them and told them I’m not paying $150+ for halogen bulbs. If they are gonna send me them I just want my $ back and I’ll get some Silvanas

I may or may not have LEDs in my hi-beams, I use them for the special drivers.
