What model years have the 8-pin vs. 12-pin relays?

I've got a 2006, if that helps. Sorry if this has already been asked.

If your vehicle is equipped with day time running lights then it seems like you have the 12-pin relay and this unit will not work. There aren't any specific model years because my friend has DRL's on his 2008 TRD OR meanwhile my 2008 TRD OR doesn't have it.

Unless you got a pin adder it won't work. Also from their website
PLEASE NOTE: This flasher is only compatible with Tacoma models that do not feature Daytime Running Lights (non-DTRL)

It fits any 05-15 Tacoma that comes factory with the CF18 Relay setup. This was my initial confusion until my rep made it clear it fits only CF18 and I found out there are two types of relay's for the Tacoma.

Anyone have a schematic for the two types of flasher module...not sure what the difference is, but might be able to hack the 12 connector flasher and adapt the Smart Tap to it. I would guess that the 12pin device simply has the relays for the DRL...could be a real easy mod...or not.

Through use of the ignition, toggling the blinker arm certain times etc.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
I mistakenly picked up an 8-pin from Amazon for about $5, and so now I have one of each to compare. I'll look into pulling them apart and seeing what the differences are. Maybe there's something to be adapted.

Maybe someone would be kind enough to mail me one of these DD flashers so I can do a three-way comparison? I'm sure it's just a chip that distinguishes the DD from the regular ones.

Damn, bought one the other day (off DD site) with expected delivery on Saturday. Just to find out it's not going to work with DTL's. My bad.

@Bruce988jl any issues with returns to DD?
