I just got a set of the DD SS3 Pro Fogs with the backlight and see in the online specs that the backlights need to tap into the DRL plug. The harness DD sent with the fogs has a red, 1/2" connector for the backlights but tapping into the DRL needs to be done by the customer (they sent those sharkbite-style adapters but I'm not happy using those having seen them cause a short and fire in the past). And after messaging a few individuals that sell harnesses here on TW without getting a response I'm going to dive in a make them myself. It appears the DRL plug matches these parts:

    https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/p...cts_id/4045?osCsid=otr85kdvsjbb03pfajqgjcuao3

    https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/p...cts_id/4043?osCsid=otr85kdvsjbb03pfajqgjcuao3

It appears those plugs are widely sold as O2 sensor adapters and support 16-20AWG wire (I think 18AWG would work for my harness needs), and while I can certainly cut and add a different connector to the DD harness, I would rather just utilized the one already in place. So, does anyone know, from the pictures below, what type of connector this is, and which matching female part I need to add to the harnesses I'm making?

If your going to add the OEM connectors, why not cut the "insulated" male terminal and double crimp to the terminal for the connector.

I was originally going to do just that, but I figured I'd rather not splice into the existing DD harness in case I want to make a change once I eventually replace the bumper.

I haven't wired mine yet, been stuck on a big project for work and haven't had the time. However, I did buy the components needed to put together a harness that will tie into the DRL for the backlight using the spade connector provided by DD. I'll probably start soldering it this weekend.

    Pretty much stock
Which wire are you supposed to tap into on the DRL? I have the elite series and want to wire the backlight to my DRL.

What connectors come with the Elites? Here is a diagram I found on here a while back that I'm using for my wiring (sorry I don't recall the OP of the diagram):

@Foushee I'm not sure if you messaged me. I am kind of in and out a lot, so if you did, and I missed it, I apologize. Not sure if you’ve bought parts yet? Feel free to shoot me a PM if you need a hand on anything. The other thing you may want to consider is the DRL circuit on those connectors (position 1) will be powered with the DRL and parking light, but when you turn the low beams on, it is no longer a powered circuit. This isn’t a big deal if you don’t want the backlight in while the headlights are on, but if you do, you’ll need to grab both DRL and parking (position 2 in the above diagram. Those are parking, not turn) and combine them using diodes to prevent cross feed.

Excellent. Thank you for the suggestion, and yes I had PM’d you a while back but no worries, I enjoy figuring these things out (when I have the time).

Man, so sorry. I kind of come in waves. I know I’m behind, just didn’t realize I was that far behind. Let me know if you need any parts or advice or anything, I’ll try to be more responsive.

No worries man, I've never felt like I'm entitled to a response from any of y'all on here. The fact that TW has such amazing members willing to share information and build one-off custom parts for others is what makes this place great. I appreciate your knowledge and offer to help with wiring questions.

I have a 4Runner and just got the SS3 Pro with backlight feature. Would it be the same theory as above if I want the backlight to turn on with DRL as well as headlights? And same question as above. Any harnesses? @Puppypunter I saw you made something for someone on youtube. You still do these? And do you do them for 4Runners?

I nfortunately don't know the 4Runner that well, but we could probably figure it out easy enough. Shoot me a PM :)
