So, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to do this for a while and playing around on paper with ideas etc.

A couple weeks back I saw a company advertising a pre-order for the same idea, unfortunately it was strictly for the new 4-runner grill, and not compatible w/ a tRD pro grill. It was more tha. I could afford to spend anyway..

After some FB marketplace searching I obtained 2 pairs of lightly used DD SSC1 Sports. Both clear w/ ABL (amber back light) - 2 spots for center grill and 2 wide for outer grill.

My first thought was take some old raptor light brackets I had and grind them down to try to make use of the existing clip. That turned out to be a no-go based on width of the pods. I decided to reach out to a 3D printer service and I’m still planning on doing this as I have plans drawn up. I do tend to be impatient though; especially considering I had everything except a mounting option sitting and waiting.

I took a trip up to Hond depot and just started looking around for some inspiration. Saw a couple J hooks w/ nut sitting there and figured it might work.

grabbed 8 - 2” j bolts and some washers. Got back to the fire station and started messing around. To my surprise, actually worked quite well. Added some heat shrink to the tip of the j hooks for grip and anti-rattle and attached through eyelets of SSC1 flush mounts w/ a washer on either side and a nut in the back. Nut allowed tension to be applied to fasten pod bezel flush to back of grill.

Why? I guess standard amber grill lights help with daylight visibility, and they look cool I guess, but I figured why not kill 2 birds w/ one stone and have something that was functional and useful in addition to being decorative.

    here are some pics.

Were you able to get something created by a 3D printer service, or did you end up abandoning that route?

If you did proceed, what did you come up with and are you happy with the results?
