I just received my set of Diode Dynamics SSC2 pods with the included heavy duty wiring harness provided by DD. I have the Cali Raised 8 way switch panel and need help properly wiring the lights so I can control the backlight feature and main light by two separate buttons on the switch. The switch included with the harness only has three wires running to it, where I would need four to properly wire it to the switch board.

I am no electrician by any stretch of the imagination so any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Im in the same boat. Just installed SSC2s and use the same controller. I am going to wire using the provided harness but cut harness before the relay. Then both positives to one spot on 8 switch and both grounds to matching switch. Then back lit wire to another switch.

You also can use the supplied harness and cut off the switch leaving the red wire untouched. Since the lights are grounded already to the battery, You only need to supply power to trip the relay.

Ground is always there and the one ground to each light in the harness grounds both the main and backlight (hence why there are only 3 wires coming out of each pod.

The biggest thing I am trying to figure out is what size fuse to use.

Just got off the phone with both companies.
Both are in agreement that we can wire the yellow and blue wires from the switch to separate switches on the 8 switch(capping the red wire that is in the middle section of switch) keeping the DD provided relay and harness or cut the harness up before the relay and just use both red and blue wires coming directly from the pods themselves on separate switches. Going to do the second option tomorrow and will make sure to show photos once completed

Curious, what is it about that switch that would allow it to work? I have the SSC2 backlit lights using for reverse and want to replace the little round switch 3 position switch with a small toyota switch. Is that A/B switch just 2 separate switches taking up one space or are the a/b interconnected in some way?

ideally you could wire the backlight to the top button and the ditch lights to the bottom button. and it would take up one switch blank.

I had a 3d printed switch blank to hold the on off switch that came with the ssc2’s made as i like the switch and it’s functionality
    that switch

The switch will mimic the one on the DD harness but fit a Tacoma switch spot.

If that's the case, then I need it. I wish CH4x4 offer the same so I can customize the print but it's close enough.

I used one of their "high/low" switches for my SS3 pods mounted behind my grill. I have it wired so the pods come on with high beam or low beam or off. The switch is on/off/on. My wiring is on(high beam)/off/on(low beam).

I have an "A/B" switch waiting on my SSc2 lights that I'll have as reverse lights in the back bumper.

how does that differ? i have the diode switch and it’s up for the backlight than you can leave it in the middle to turn all off. and down for the actual lights.
individual on and off. i’m a tad confused

That's exactly what I'm using it for, the SSC2 Reverse Light pods. Perhaps I'm not wiring correctly but there seems to be no way to connect it so it works the same as the little switch that comes with the DD Harness.

The backlight should work all the time lights are on. Up should allow reverse light to actuate the pods, down should just actuate the SSC2 as Floods regardless of reverse gear activation. I can't get the CH4x4 switch wired to do that.

I have already taken up 15 minutes of his time today on another matter. I prefer not to risk black-balling.

I'll wait till 3 a.m. his time and call him. :boink:

Maybe this helps. I received some great advice in the aux high beam thread.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-sae-j581-aux-high-beam-thread.696597/page-24#post-26597752

If you look closely at the wiring diagram for the anytime camera, you can sort much of it as well. Note there are two extra leads + and - for the switch illumination.

Just wired ssc2’s to my cali raised panel. Ended up cutting the harness and removing both switch and relay. 2 blacks are ground in ground 1 and 2 and both power for ditch light is in 1+. ambers are in 4+. Running a 10 amp fuse for main ditch and 5 on ambers. 7C690689-E525-4DB5-A56C-2E36DEF67273.jpg

@thenshaw808 I notice you're using the mounting bracket. did you only use one screw to mount it in the engine bay? how is it holding up? Can you post a picture of this install? thanks
