Hey Bruce Mobil 1 filters are no longer made by Champion Laboratories, Inc. since February of this year. I emailed Mobil 1 and this is what the man said.

Ah, OK, thanks for the update  I guess that's OK ... I've never seen any MANN filters around here, but when I've looked through the numerous websites like 'Top 10 best oil filters' ... And there's a ton of them out there.. LOL! ... MANN filters always seem to be in the mix somewhere.

It looks to me like the bulk of the 2GR-FKS’s engine oil is sufficiently below where the crank and rods spin. An additional .2 quarts of oil probably won’t reach those rotating components. (Sorry for the poor editing).

When I replaced my Mobil 1 filter a couple weeks ago I was surprised. What I got was not at all like what I had. The new Mobil 1 filter was made in South Korea. The Toyota TRD filters do look like the old Mobil 1 filters.

Good to know. My 4 popper has the canister twist on filter. Wonder if that applies to the twist on's also?

Sorry I didn't reply to you sooner...I posted a picture of a t - - mp pumpkin and was given a 30 day suspension.

As @Skydvrr stated.... it’s best to pull the dipstick and Let it Sit for a few minutes, before checking. This method provides a more accurate and easy reading.

I just drove home my 2020. Important to note I’m going from a 2000 Buick Century with 200k miles on it that I have driven forever. Anyway, once home pulled the dipstick and momentarily freaked because there was no oil in it!!! Checked it again, no oil! FUUUUUK, then just realized it was so clean and thin I just couldn’t see it on the dipstick. Especially compared to the deep brown of my ol Buick :anonymous:

I always round down when changing oil, at least initially. If it calls for 5.5 quarts I add 5 then drive it a short distance, allow 5-10 minutes for all the oil to drain down then check the dipstick. Add oil as needed. You NEVER get 100% of the old oil out. If the specs say it takes 5.5 quarts to fill you'll almost always need a bit less.

A couple dipstick tips that I’ve picked up over the years..

    - Scuff the end up of the dipstick where the oil level is with Emory cloth, makes it easier to see the oil

    - I used a sharpie to put a mark on the yellow dipstick handle and where it goes into the tube. This way it goes in the same position every time (since it’s a pretty hard bend going in 1 direction). We all know how it can bind up on the 3.5, this solves that

What I normally do as well. Just did my first oil change on the truck, and I'm a little over full on the dipstick at 5.5 quarts. Will run for a bit, and add as needed. Wish the dipstick was more of the "tooth" style, much easier to read.

Amazing...Some complaints about missing dipstick on the tranny, some can't read a dipstick..
You are short at least by 0.6. Just add oil per specs and check in the morning.
