Dipstick Dots Inaccuracy

    There are a few threads regarding the dipstick dots. None of them talked about the distance between the two.

    I don't know about the 3rd Gen 2.7L, but for the 3.5 2GR-FKS, the distance between both dots is NOT 1.6 quarts like the manual states.

    I got a low engine oil light that came on. When I checked the dipstick, neither dot registered oil. When I added only 1/2 a quart at the most, both dots became darkened. Wasn't too happy because I'm just as concerned with too much oil. Anyway, that's it. Thanks.

    Yeah, usually when adding oil add half as much as you think you need to add.
