Hello, I am looking to put a lift on my Tacoma (09 reg cab 5 speed 4x4). I don't want anything crazy just to lift it 3". Also don't want some cheapo suspension. I was thinking King, Icon, or Fox whatever is the best. Maybe even a midtravel set up. Just need to know what to look at, and what will fit my truck.

Thanks for any help I get, would be much appreciated.

Old Man Emu Lift w/ Dakars and Billsteins, K&N Intake, Throttle Body Space, Front Bull Bar, Side Rails, Painted Stock Rims, Bilstein 5100 Front Shocks, Third Brake Light Cover, Satoshi Grill Mod, BHLM Mod
Dakars in the Rear with Nitro Charger shocks and Bilstein 5100's Adjustables up front got me close to where I wanted. Ride's still very nice too

Yeah I got the bilstein 5100's on the front right now they ride so nice. I just took 33's of my tundra so I'm looking to give it a little more. Roads here are far from smooth...

What do you do with the truck when you go offroad?

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.

Definitely depends on the type of driving you do. There are 50+ suspensions for as many different driving styles.

For me... I am 85-90% an on road driver since my truck is a daily driver, and lots of freeway driving. When I do off-road I do a lot of forest service roads and back country trails (rutted washes, sandy canyons, and so on). Also, I tow a variety of loads (bike trailer, tent trailer, etc). So I need an all-around suspension that can do it all.

I chose OME in the front and Dakars and OME in the rear. The setup gets me a solid 3" lift (I added a 1" body lift to that) and the ride is awesome. Nice and firm. Handles well at 80+ MPH, smooth as glass. And I fly over those rutted roads, the extra clearance is perfect for what I do.

What do you do off-road? What would you like to do.

    Thanks for all the replies!!

Lots of logging roads where I am located... They definitely take a toll on a truck after a few years. I don't do a whole lot of crawling right now or intense trail riding because there are none, but I do kind of limit my self with rough(rougher I should say) terrain right now due to my minimal ground clearance. And when I am on the pavement, I probably average 60-70mph, speed limit here is 50mph, corners FAR out number the amount of straight road. Occasionally up to 80-90mph range :) ..... This truck is my daily driver. I do 0 towing with this truck, but I do hall a fourwheeler from time to time in the bed(ugly squat) and rigging- blocks, chokers, shackles, chain etc..From pavement, then to the dirt logging roads which cant be too good for the stock rear end. On another note, dirt roads are my favorite places, there is no posted speed limit...... I drive like I own the road because there isn't very many people here, and LOTS of dirt road which I enjoy! So slowing down for potholes or other bumps is out of the question..... I definitely wouldn't mind hitting some roads around here that could potentially make my truck airborne :) nothing crazy but just enough to keep a guy happy with the feel of some air........

    Hope my response helps somewhat....

Thanks for the replies again, keep em' coming!

Keep reading through this forum, sounds like you could get by with an OME kit, but most people who have tried both will tell you king or icon will be smoother and let you go faster over the rough stuff. I went with Icon and I like it a lot so far.

Thanks for the input.... I don't want something to just get by with... I want something that will last, and be tough. I honestly don't mind spending extra for the better product if that be King or Icon. I'm not saying OME stuff is junk, I've just been bit in the past for buying the better priced equipment....
