I have direct tv high def. Local channels abc and fox both skip on audio and video. Sometimes the screen even goes blank for a second or two. When it skips it acts like the signal you get in a bad storm. The transponders all show high numbers so my signal strength is good. the tech on the phone couldn't do anything to help me any ideas?

Yeah that sounds like a bad signal but if you said you are getting good strength I'm not sure what else it could be? How often is it doing it? Mine does it every once in a while but not very often. Oh and I have DISH Hi def.

Thats a good point too. Do the DirecTV receivers reset themselves on a 24-hour rotation? Mine does at 3am every morning and takes about 5-10 minutes to recycle.

Try calling DirecTv. It could just be a faulty receiver, if it is, they'll send you a new one. Over night shipping in most cases.

Oh okay, yeah both my receivers update themselves at 0300 every morning. Now I'm not sure if its a full reset or if its just updating the weekly guide but it does take a little bit of time until its done.

Interesting. My reciver updates on it's own, but only when there's an update available, not every morning.

If it does it on both then it's not a box issue. Signal issue most likely. Yes you said signal was good but what sat is it looking at the 119 or the 110 and I think there is now the 121 sat. It's been years since I worked there so I can't remember.
