Hi, I'm looking for a dirt bike to have family fun in trail routes. My wife owns a CRF150F, my son a CRF80 and the little one a XR70. All are green stickers and no I'm looking a bigger one for me like a KLX 300, CRF 450, YZF 450.
Someone had a problem or might not be able to ride in some places because a red stickers, any comments?
Regarding what bike to buy, I'm looking for a used one in good working condition and trying to keep my budget low, any suggestions or bike that NOT buy?

Full custom stereo, onboard air compressor, train horns, spacer lift, 30" tires, optima yellow top, rear slider window & tailgate anti-theft mod, pop & lock, class 3 tow hitch, lights in bed, Ultra Gauge, Weather Tech mats, yellow fog lights, camper top, air lift rear airbags, rear diff breather mod, soon to be more...
Get yourself A 4 stroke 250 like a Yamaha WR250, or a KTM. Make sure it has or buy a U.S. forestry approved spark arrestor / muffler. A 450 would be fine too.

You can only ride red sticker part of the year, except on private lands.

4 strokes have been out a long time. You should be able to find an affordable green sticker ride.

Well the red and green sticker is a pollution restriction in California. With green sticker you can ride in public park all year long, with red one you can ride only part of the year.
My current bikes are green sticker but the ranger never check it, so I just wondering if someone else had a problem with this restriction.
This are my family dirt bikes and my "Taco" with the load.

Pre 2002??? I think 2 stroke 250 is the only way to go:cool:

Reason I say pre 2002 is because there was a cuttoff date where any older bike doesn't apply to the retarded laws you guys have.

Now I could be completely wrong here but this what Ive heard.

We are usually going to Gorman. The ranger never stop me to check the stickers color or the expiration date.
I would like to buy four stroke. My favorite is the CRF450F but is a red sticker and I wondering i I could be in trouble or not be able to ride.
I saw a 05 KLX 300 with a green sticker and moderate price, any input on it?
    Thanks

    2002 CRF450 is green sticker I believe.

That wasn't a very good year for that bike though and if you're inexperienced on bikes you'll kill yourself with 45+ hp.

CRF230F its a mild air cooled trail bike like the 150 just bigger... should be green stickerable... right?

Or you could just move somewhere like here and have no stickers...

I own a 2 smoker and are all for them, this is not the bike 2 get. This guy wants to ride with his family, not hit the big tripple at the track. An electric start 250f of any brand is a good choice. Anyone suggesting you to buy a 10 year old bike is not helping, a cr is a pile by the way. YZ FTW!

the pre 2003 CR250 engine is one of the best ever. FAR from a pile.

Anyway I kind of agree, you should look into a WR250 or maybe a klx.

250x is a good option, ktm also has a bunch of green sticker 250s all the way up to 525s.
