Hey all, running a DK LT kit on my second gen, and though there are a bunch of threads on stuffing 37’s and cutting etc, has anyone ran 37’s with this LT kit on a second gen? If so do you think you had to tug and cut more or less than stock?

I have a third gen but for this type of clearance it’s the same thing.

On the street it works fine. Just hammer the pinch weld and do a CMC. Mine would only slightly rub at full lock in reverse.

To actually use off road? You either have to tub both firewall and wheel well or severely limit uptravel which kind of defeats the point.

Yea i think I’m gonna have the issue and full bump hitting the top of the inner fender.
I’m gonna have to play with it.

I’m sure around town it will be fine, but in the rocks, i know I’ll start running into issues really quick

Oh I just read your post again.

With the long travel kit you’ll end up cutting a bit less. But you still have to cut. I asked this exact question in the tubbing thread in technical chat. If you check there you can get an idea of the difference.

The one in technical chat is a little better and it’s not as many pages. Way less.

I’m running 37x13.50’s on my 2010. For daily driving it’s great, only rubs in reverse now with a cmc and my caster kicked forward. But I’ll destroy my fenders and inner fender if I wheel like this. But I have advans for rims with this setup so I won’t wheel with this setup. I’m waiting for a good deal on some beadlocks close to me to pop up so I can go back down to 35’s and wheel comfortably again lol

35’s are going to rub as well. Might as well leave the 37’s and chop chop!

Only time I would rub before when I was on 35’s was in the rear surprisingly but only when I was loaded down. Front cleared even at full lock and full bump.

Funny how different these trucks are. When I had 35’s even with max caster they’d still rub on the top of the wheel well and firewall full lock.

What offset were your wheels? Mine are -12 and I never hit, I also have 700lb springs to accommodate the bumper and winch as well.

They were 8” wide 4.5 BS or 0 offset I think. Also had 700 pound springs with similar weight.

Depending on wheel offset, width and tire brand will be the determining factor on how much you need to trim. With a 17x9 -12 it will reduce the amount of trimming and relocation you need to do on the inner fender at full bump but will increase the amount of trimming needing to be done at the firewall at full bump/lock. Your best option of to cycle the suspension to full bump and see how much you need to trim and go from there, and from experience take how much you think you need to trim and add 20% to that. These trucks have a lot of body flex and its better to slightly over clearance, a lot of people say if your in a full lock/bump situation you have biiger problems but youd be surprised how often it can happen

Well looks like I’m going to take the plunge and end up going for it. Really looking forward to seeing the truck on 37’s
