I need to repaint mine :anonymous: but there's not much exposed. I ran the coax along the front rail with the wires for my rear lights, and ran the ground wire between the cab and the bed straight to the frame. Gid helped me with the ground because the wire i originally ran was not a big enough gauge, so make sure you use something big.

I have heavier gauge wire. What did you use? That looks to be about 12 AWG you have.
And if you need a piece, come to RRG and I'll hook you up!

It works fine. Just faded from being 3 years in the sun. I'll slide some tubing or hose over it :turtleride:

OK....I ran a flat ground strap from my mount down between the cab and bed and found a good point to bolt it to the frame. It runs to the mount and is attached via a sheet metal screw. I used a 1/2" wide flat ground cable. Antenna does NOT ground to mount. The mount is what should be grounded. I used high end shielded coax, avoiding as many electrical wires along the way as possible to hopefully reduce interference.

I had fair reception with a bit of noise when I had the Cobra UDLX.....Much clearer reception once I went to the Cobra XLT25. Even better yet when the wattage was rolled up to 28.

Finally, the "stock" cobra mics are meh.....

I think I can run and dress a ground cable from on of the mount's mounting bolts down past the tailgate and to the frame. Just trying to avoid hanging cables/wires to prevent snags is all.

I know what needs done now, just want it to look pretty.

Sounds like one of my old tricks....Looks to be 2 GREAT hand cuff attachment points....I'm sure she couldn't run too far with the bumper chained to her.

Time to break camp and head home! Wife won't be there until 6PM. 3-1/2 hours of total silence (except for birds) a sixer of ice cold Sterling beer, and asshat is out playing golf with his son, so he won't be pestering me. Life is good!
