What’s the context of the clunk? Beating on it over the weekend and it started? Headed home from church on Sunday and it started?

About 70mph on the highway and it came out of nowhere, yesterday evening

Went to Rush last weekend but rode easy stuff since there wasn't another vehicle along

I’d check the carrier bushing the driveshaft rides on

then I’d start with the 3rd member cause that’s what mine sounds like

Short of a loose or missing bolt, the u joints and carrier are the cheapest options. The ring gear isn't what I want it to be

    Survey says...
Wheels off the ground in 1st gear idling was enough to hear it. It's something from the rearmost u joint to inside the 3rd. I'll start with the u joint and fluid change, that way I can peek at the magnet too.
It isn't gritty sounding, but a very distinct !thunk! Nothing before or after it. Sort of measured its rotational noise against one of the weights on the driveshaft, every 4th-5th rotation it says hi.

I think they're already Nitro. Diffs came from @allmotorrex . I'd only need the rear set, if it comes to that. Getting them set locally is another story.

Recommend u joint replacement? I'll have to see what the new dealer has and the local I know more than them stores (scary!)

I'm starting here because cheaper and quicker

If its just a ring bolt like I said it will work until it breaks. If you get it before then tho you may only be in for a pinion bearing/seal

If it’s chunked and needs a replacement I’d just have an order setup with Just gears to send you the gears and a installer kit

Lunch break. About to pull the 3rd after, but it's being a bitch! That gasket maker was good stuff.

Looking like I'll pull the ring gear and driveshaft for 4hi 2 wheelin!
