We do have a cheaper option. It bolts in after the stock Y pipe. We’ve had it since 2016 when the 3.5 first came out. It’s $595 aluminized steel. $695 stainless.

    Call for details. Keith 760-877-4234

Factory cats are definitely the preferred cat. They’re not restrictive. I’ve extensively tested with and without cars and several Toyota’s. The only difference between the two, no cats = less low end torque. With no gain in Hp. Adding cats doesn’t make less Hp and doesn’t slow a trucl down in the 1/8 mile.

On a new truck like this the only ca legal cat is stock. And being we don’t touch the mid pipe til after the cat it’s legal.

Sorry. It's not on the site. I use the 'Dark Reader' Chrome extension. It works pretty well on most sites. I wish there was a dark mode for everything.

    Must’ve missed the question.

Stock is mostly 409 ss. And flanges are steel.

Our system is similar. But the pipe is 304 instead of 409

    Thanks.

So the SS option is less dissimilar than the aluminized?

lol no I was commenting on tonereds screenshot of the forum and how he's running a dark template. Had nothing to do with your exhaust system i'm sorry. Though I'd love to have one!

I think he was getting back to my question about what the stock system was made from. @Capt_Awesome linked up the product page that only discussed the new exhaust materials.

I understand the theory and what you’re asking. The best way to answer:

I’ve built literally thousands of exhaust systems over the past 15 years. Never once had an issue with dissimilar metals. And with our lifetime warranty the end user doesn’t have to worry about it either. If one of our systems ever fails in any way we will repair or replace it for free. Even if the end user causes the failure;)

    Haha! Perfect.
With the steel flanges that you noted on both, there would be more trouble there than any place else. Thanks for the info. It sounds like you and Toyota had it covered.

Dissimilar metals always gives me a brain cramp, esp when we have to consider the interaction of the fastener materials and finishes. Very unrelated to this exhaust. :D

That was not you. It tends to happen here, even on threads that you create, whether 'watched' or not. Drives me nuts.

How does one decide whether to go with aluminized or not? Is it just dependent on whether the roads in my area are salted?

I’m just trying to figure a way to pass the emissions without having to ship my factory midpipes away for a week or more. I’m not concerned about them seeing an aftermarket cat because they’re so buried in these trucks they won’t bother to look as long as it passes the sniffer test

Two things kill alumiiized. Cold weather and salt.

It’s obvious why salt kills aluminized steel. But cold weather, it kills aluminized because the water in the exhaust system condensed and turns to liquid water. Then it mixes with the sulfur in the exhaust and creates sulfuric acid. Which eats the exhaust from the inside.

We have a solution for this;)

I have a few sets of stock low mileage mid pipes being shipped to me. We can exchange. 760-877-4234

That’s good to hear I’m just not in the financial situation to place such an expensive order. In a few months I’ll be ready
