A friend was driving and inadvertently turned the 4 wheel drive selector switch while reaching for the heater fan switch.

Started me thinking of a way to temporally disable the switch in certain circumstances.

I thought of removing the 20 Amp "Four-wheel drive system, rear differential lock system" FUSE.

Any thoughts? Will this damage the vehicle? Better ideas?

    Thank you...eric

It would be simpler to put some blue masking tape over the switch as a tactile reminder. No point in using fuses to disable the option if you bought the truck for the sake of having 4WD.

To be fair they use the same control knob.. but yea the placement is about a foot apart.

Too funny... and I agree 1000x. I don't let anyone drive my vehicles for a multitude of reasons.

If the OP questions this , sorta wondering what speed the truck went into 4x4 ?

I am not a fan of selecting 4x4 at interstate speeds

    I have to admit :anonymous:

I have done this before myself...... I started turning the 4x4 switch but imediately realized what I was doing and quickly turned it back to 2H before it ever actually went into 4H...... all I wanted to do was turn the fan speed up on the heater.:D

I've read of at least 3 other dummies here that have done that. I'm one of them - twice.

You could teach your friends how to read or buy them "common sense for dummies' ?

Yes, disable the 4WD. Don't go off-road, it's very dangerous out there. Stay safe.
