well, update. My truck WILL NOT start without the ebrake engaged.. which is a plus. however, it will TRY to start if the ebrake is engaged but it is in gear.. I tried this last night, the truck surged a little, but didnt move. I only let it go on for a half second, because it didn't sound very nice.

Oh well! In case of an accident, I only have to worry about a stripped starter, not a a car accident, or worse case, a human accident! So i feel pretty good about this.

I have a slight variation to this. I would like to remove the "clutch start cancel" button to free up the spot in the dash for another button. Can I just remove the switch and hard wire it so it is always on? I hate having to push the button to start the truck when I'm not sitting in it then the light stays on until I shut off the truck. Just to be clear I am not using a remote starter.

Super old post but thanks for the info OP. I just did this with my gen 3 MT and worked like a charm. No more goofy set up before I leave my truck and works out well for me because I never leave my truck in gear
