Tried that 2 times and they refused with no hint of them 'maybe' doing it.

nice, wasn't aware you could do that thru Carista. does it have any other special functions other apps don't have?

Yeah, they refused to do it at my dealership as well. Told me it was a legal liability issue and wouldn't budge.

I'm not sure - that was just the app that was being recommended in this forum back in 2019. It let me change a few other things that weren't available through the radio, but nothing awesome that stands out in my memory. Biggest thing was that I wanted that super-angry seatbelt alarm turned off for boat ramp use.

    Bullshit.
Anything that can be changed is legal. Toyota would never allow the ability to go in and shut off
A required safety feature. Toyota over “Nannie’s” the alerts so a constant 30 sec beep could be changed to a one beep alert if it was allowed.
I never refused to shut stuff off. Our shop never did.
They don’t want to even open the door to get involved in a lawsuit. You can blame society…

I totally agree. I just got tired of banging my head against the service department wall and took care of it myself. Of course, then I had to check after every service appointment to make sure they didn't turn it back on. It's out of the "free" maintenance period, so it won't be going back for routine maintenance at this point, though.

They tried that with me, and I threatened to not buy the truck...told them I was a farm worker doing fencing, and needed to drive 20 feet and get out over and over... lol
They turned it off at purchase. Got my blinks changed to 4 as well.

The seat belt dinger and door dinger can just go rot in hell. On my previous truck, I crawled around under the dash, found the buzzer, and disconnected it. It was like Heaven.

The intent of this post was to provide a FREE option to disable these alarms/buzzers/chimes whatever you choose to call them. I’m not the first owner of my truck so I would have to pay handsomely for a fresh oil change at a dealership. I also have no plans to introduce any additional electronic options that need programming. This cost exactly $0 and a solid 25-30 minutes of my time. I appreciate all the extra input.

You can easily disable the seatbelt alarms with Techstream or any other decent bi-directional scan tool. Unfortunately the 'shut the engine off with the door open' alarm isn't a parameter that can be changed.
