    Hey all,

A little back story, back when i bought the truck, we noticed when you dont wear your seatbelt, the darn truck beeps non-stop.. We asked the dealer to disable it, they said no and it wasnt a option anyways so they can not do it!

I was reading around on the form the other day, people talked about this, but there really wasnt a video on what it did etc, so Felicity wanted to make this for you guys....

She is learning about truck stuff and wanted to share.....

Comments welcome as we are still learning our edits..

We also did a g away for a sonos play one, and i belive one of TW members wont it!

still can not belive out of 700 views, only 4 people followed the directoins!

Once it's off, is it off for good? Does it reset if you unplug the battery?
Do you have to leave it plugged in?

It actually only beeps about 50 times. When I disabled the chime it caused the light to constantly flash on the dash. Never stops. Not sure which is more annoying, the light or the chime.

It is a option that can be turned off if you have techstream. The indicator will still flash but the alarm will no longer beep. Once the parameter is changed it is off for good unless changed back again.

The dealer CAN disable it. Mine did without hesitation. I've read here where some REFUSE to do it but that is nonsense on the dealers part.

The seatbelt warning light will always flash once the chime is disabled...I don't mind that at all because I then buckle up or ask my wife to buckle. We do wear seatbelts unless driving out in the woods slowly, or while out spotting deer at night where you need to reach and move a lot to spot and glass the deer. It's nice to spot deer without listening to the annoying audible chime.

Technically not non-stop, mine beeped 58 times :p I had the dealership turn that off and raise my blinker tap to five blinks.

As mentioned, easy to turn off the chime, (I used Carista) but you're left with the blinking light that's enough to force you into the belt anyway.

Once you set it off it’s off for good , doesn’t matter if you unplug batt. I do not know why Toyota did that to our trucks !

I will let my dog sit in the front seat with me. That is why I turned the chime off. On my LC Carista lets me program the TPMS sensors when I swap between summer and winter wheels. (FWIW, Discount tire will also program your TPMS sensors for free, so I've done that too, but it is easier to pay $10 for a day subscription and program in about 5 minutes. The only thing you'll need is the sensor numbers from the second set. Carista will detect the tire sensors currently programmed to your car) A nice feature, but I'm not sure if it is available on the Tacoma through Carista. Techstream is supposed to do TPMS if you have the right cable (which I have) but it won't program them on my 4Runner or LC. So for the price, Carista is nice.

My dealer turned off the seat belt chime on my old Tacoma. They initially said they wouldn't, but they changed theth tune when I refused to buy it . It stays off even when power was cut from the system when I replaced the battery .
