Guys, all you need is an elastic band. I've done it with my white gauge 2011 and it's been working great. I will try to take some photos to show you how it's done. it takes about 5 minutes and is super easy and you can always return it back to the OEM spec.

The basic idea is to remove the inner plastic 'guts'. There's a circular tab on the outside of the seatbelt latch. Push the tab in and pull the 'guts' out. Now you have access to the chiming sensor. Now you Macgyver an elastic band to keep the white plastic sensor held back, tricking it in to thinking the seat belt is latched. The only thing is you won't be able to fit it back into the seatbelt latch. I have it stuffed between the seat and the centre console.

I went to the stealership today for my complimentary free oil change and asked them to do this. Slight hassle from them, although they did end up doing it, and even better the did it for free! No 53 dollar fee. I had not heard good things regarding the particular stealership, butt the two Bills who I dealt with we're great, but Bill the service tech looked and looked for answers regarding the '12 and being able to do it with a key cycle and such and he said Toyota removed that feature and it has to be a done with a Toyota scan tool. He also informed me that if the battery gets to a low voltage state or ECU loses power then the system will reset to default which is annoying ding. Just a heads up.

I asked my local dealership the past two times I had the Taco in for servicing. Absolutely refused to do it. So I just mosied my ass on over to parts and ordered the seat belt extender for free. Not as convenient as not having it go off at all, but better than having to hear that constant beeping...

My dealer wanted $45 to turn it off, said it took an hour to turn it off. After swallowing that line of crap I argued the toss with them and they ended up doing it for free when they did my 1st free service. Without doubt this is the best mod you can do on an 2012!!

I read how to do it once, it took me 30 seconds to complete it. I paid myself 45 dollars. Easy money

You have pics of this mod? My dealership will not do this for 'liability reasons'. Took it to 3 other dealers, same thing. Pretty sure the speaker is on the back of the gauge cluster. I'd rather try this elastic band trick before removing that speaker.

I have no idea how to post pics on here nicely like some of you guys do but supposedly there should be pics attached to this post, lol. Here is my solutions after reading a few posts about using electrical tape or elastic bands. Neither of those methods will let you re-install the sensor but I was able to afterwards and it works awesome, won't have to be reset if you disconnect the battery ever and is totally reverseable in minutes.

All this does is fool the sensor to thinking the seatbelt is buckled so no beeping and no light on the dash and most importantly in no way should it affect the airbag like some people are saying unplugging the sensor from under the seat may do.

If my pictures actually attach here then one pic will show the small hole in the metal seatbelt strap that you need to push a screwdriver through to remove the sensor. Then there are 2 pics showing the white plastic "switch" that you are going to have to tie down in order to make this work. One pic is of it in the on and the other in the off postion.

The other 2 pics show(not the best quality, sorry) how I wrapped a twist tie around one side and pulled it down and then wrapped the other end around the wire at the bottom. The twist tie is the grey/silvery colored thing at the bottom. Good thing is that it is not very bulky and i was able to re-install the whole thing so no one will ever know it was done.

    Hope this helps

Simple fix. Wedge a golf tee in the buckle. If you don't have a golf tee use a book of matches. Works for me during hunting season. Been doing it for years..
