bobby rahal, mechanicsburg,pa refused, saying crap that they have to get the state police or someone to measure the person and have it cut to size for the person. this is for my 2012 tx pro. So you tell me how to handle this.
They also refused my option of having them disable the alarm.

    FWIW,

I went into Jim Barkley Toyota for my 1st service yesterday and the Express Advisor was really cool, after we shot the breeze for a minute or two I asked about something I read in the manual, and I do travel to PA and NE, when hunting and waiting to jump out of a truck with a 12guage in hand for a pheasant the beep is going to be annoying as crap, lol...

He said he would try and get the VIS or whatever they call the computer and disable it himself. No charge, he said it isn't hard at all, he went ahead and turned off both for me. Wohoo! Dude was real nice.

Also it will beep when you start the truck but not after that.

Bought my trk at Brian Easler and thought enough of the dealership to drive 150 miles round trip for first service at 5,000 miles. As I was pulling onto I-26 to go home, a small voice told me to check my oil! Sure enough, it was black! Also my tires had not been rotated. When I went back the service manager, and I use that term loosely, said sorry...have a seat in waiting..we will fix you right up. I went with my trk only to have tech to ask me, how much oil does your trk take? He then got 5 qts from a bulk container that was the only container I saw. I ask him if it was synthetic...he asked what did mine use....I said synthetic...he said IT WAS SYNTHETIC. I noticed the tires not rotated when I got home. When I got home, I called to talk to Mr, Easler, who was out....but I told the girl that answered the phone what happened. She said not to tell anyone, but that happens a lot at that dealership. I called Toyota customer service in Cal. which was a waste of time. I dont say this to run down anyone....Im just telling the truth....I wont go back. For nothing. I would not recommend that dealer to turn off the alarm.

The seat belt chime is not a chime....it's like BIG BEN counting to 62! I mean really, does toyota think that I need to hear that thing 62 times? It's like having my wife saying, buckle up, buckle up, buckle up, buckle up.....My truck is 2012 and the switch od code doesn't work...and the other mods seem to disable the airbags. Some of the posts are old, so does anyone have any new ideas?

Thank you for my rehab in advance.

"1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle
your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of
    seconds.
    2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
    3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon
as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12
    second count.
    4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten
your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that
time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-
off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt. "

This worked on my 2011 AC 4x4 4cyl Base. The flashing light was still annoying, so I placed a small 3/4" x 3/4" piece of electrical tape over it (making sure not to obscure the "door open", and "LSD" lamps). Up to this point, I had been using wire substitutes. They take care of everything, and stayed in all the time, but things can get hairy when a cruiser rolls up behind you! Also, when I give people rides, and they go to plug in the seat belt, there is always a "WTF!" moment, and I have to explain the whole thing over and over.
IMO, Seat belt laws are an infringement upon free will, and no law should be enacted for the sake of *money* -and that is what SB laws are all about. I feel the same about motorcycle helmet laws, and any other law designed solely to protect us from ourselves - especially when the primary beneficiary is big business.

    Removed the damn stickers!
Went to my dealer, Independence Toyota in Hazleton, PA, told them I wanted 2 extenders. They asked me what size. I told them it doesn't matter 'cause I'm cutting the webbing off and using it to get rid of the seat belt chime. They ordered them right up. Got two for the back seats and they didn't work so they had to re-order the ones for the front. Got them and have been using them for months. Went to San Diego to help my son drive his F-150 across country. Told him to go to his Ford dealer for a seat belt extender as I refused to use the seat belt. They had one all ready for us, no questions asked. All were free of charge.

So is the final word (on late model 2011-Present) for the passenger side is that the quick disconnect under the seat does not work because the chime is also tied in with the passenger airbag?

I have a 01, and I went to do this and my seatbelt chime will only do it 5 times if I don't have the seatbelt in, (in park, not moving). I had the battery unplugged a while ago, so if this mod had been done, it would be reset. Is that normal, but this mod is for when you are going above a certain speed/moving?

Man... The chime is annoying as hell. A few random beeps is one thing.. but non-stop for what seems like 3 minutes is crazy.

Does the turn the key on.... hold this button for 20 seconds thing work for 2011?

    Thanks

I have a 2011 and cannot get this mod to work.. Driving me nuts.

My guages are black carbon fiber on inside, and white on edges.

The newer 2011 ( with the newer gauge face ) and 2012 up the procedure will not work. You can only turn it off using Techstream Software or get the dealer to do it.

Yup... I have the newer gauges and it won't work. shit.

I'll be headed to my nearest dealership this weekend to get these turned off. Don't need my truck yelling at me the entire way out of my complex, or while getting the mail down the street.

Sometimes I carry items in the passenger seat that will trigger the belt alarm. Just did it to my '08. Works like a charm.
