This works just as described, I just finished doing it on my 2008 Tacoma, I broke one of the valve stems because I used steel caps on them. A coupole things I encountered...

    1. The red TPMS module is really in there and mounted to two metal tabs it slides on, I had to remove the radio and and middle dash to get a good grip on it.
    2. Wire the hot lead to the fuse box, I tried tapping in to a hot lead on the blower control and every time I put the fan on, the TPMS light would come back on.

I think the easiest thing to do is put a small piece of tape over the light. Just don't be lazy and forget to check the tire pressure and I ball them daily.

I know this thread is kind of old, but what size fuse should I use in the fuse link from blue wire tapping into yellow wire?

Fuse size should be reliant on wire size as if too amperage is sent through the wire you want the fuse to blow before the wire melts, wires make pretty lame fuses and are harder to replace when they blow.

So assuming that wire is 16-18 gauge and 16-18 gauge wire can carry 10-6 amps I would run a 5amp or 2.5amp fuse if you can find one in that atc size.

That tpms system probably only really uses .1 amps.

So I tore down the dash but I wasn’t able to unplug the wiring from the red box. Am I supposed to pull up on the red box to disconnect it?

I'm overhauling my car stereo and decided to try this tpms disable mod since my dash light is on due to dead tpms batteries.

I'm glad to say that it works as advertised on my '08 TRD OR.

I was going to try this, but my red/white wire does not have 5V on it(??)

Thank you to the OP and to everyone for all the follow-up for this thread. I recently acquired a 2008 that has had the wheels replaced and does not have wheel sensors, hence the light is always on.

To get to the TPMS module, I removed the radio as well as the surrounding bezel. Everything just pulls off.

I found a wire with +6v at the radio, so I tapped into that to tie up the blue wire. It worked perfectly. Below is a photo which shows a green test lead connecting the two wires as I tested this:

This saved having to run a wire elsewhere in the dash.

Thanks again to all. Happiness is having that frigging light off!

I've got a dumb question, is there not a hot wire on the plug that goes to the TPMS ecu?
