I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
I know where it's located, and it's down all the way.

Yes. The dashboard does not illuminate at all when the headlights are off, as per Canadian legislation.

I wonder if this is a difference between American and Canadian
No, it was having the same problem before I did the mod. I just hadn't had much opportunity for nighttime driving at the time.

With the sun setting later now, I've been doing more nighttime driving, and it's becoming more evident.

This is interesting. I wonder if it's a "safety" feature to ensure that people can't shut them off completely.

I'm about ready to pull apart the dashboard, and throw a later of tint behind the gauge cluster.

I've been diving for more years than you.
So I know frustrations with tech.
    I have a 2023 bought in Canada.
Can turn down dash illumination to almost black at night when headlights on.
Just turn odometer staulk lever counter clockwise.

Hmmm, I was wondering if this may be a Canadian thing, but I see you're from Alberta, too.

It seems that some people can dim them to near black, and others can't.

I wonder if it's something as stupid as the same component being manufactured in multiple factories?

Has anyone figured out how to dim the main screen with apple CarPlay up? I can dim the Toyota menu but when I connect my phone for CarPlay it brightens back up to quite the bright level compared to my dash that I have turned down a few notches

Just tried my 2021. Lights will go to one shade above dark, not off completely. Too dim to see what anything is tho.

Nah, not the only one. My dash is still bright as hell even with it turned all the way down. I also turn off the infotainment screen. It annoys me that it lights up when the volume is adjusted.

I unplugged the automatic headlight sensor, but it was having this problem before I unplugged it.

No, it seems that some people can dim their dashboard so that it's almost completely dark, and others can't. I'm almost wondering if it's a manufacturing error.

I'm certainly not the only one with the problem. Here's another thread on the topic.

Take it in. Mine go to one shade above dark, you can't even read what is illuminated.

Yes. It was the first thing i did when I got this truck, just like every vehicle before it. I do know how to dim dashboard lights.

Turning mine all the way down, the backlight is still extremely bright on mine. No trolling. Just different expectations about what "dim" means.

I’ll try mine this weekend, but I think it goes down to nearly off as others have mentioned.
