Yeah wish i could re-use the old nipple as i mashed it trying to use pliers to remove it from the filter.

So if i just use a Red Loctite and hand thread it down, put in a new filter (hand tighten only as everyone has reminded me) that should be that.

Can't wait to get to the parts department and get this done, as everyone feels im sure the same it sucks being without your baby.

to tighten the nipple in, I would definitely use an internal pipe wrench as I and others have brought up. that looks like a tapered thread, in which case it will only seal if moderately tight. you cant use the filter as your wrench, as the filter will never tighten down on the nipple to turn it in tight without first contacting the o-ring to whatever you call that part of the motor.

Personally, I'd get a couple of 3/4-16 nuts from the local hardware store, run them on jammed together ( takes two wrenches, run one down all the way, run one down halfway, then back the first one up to it and tighten them together), then use the top one to properly torque the adapter into the base.
Pop the nuts apart and it's ready to go without damaging the threads.

    5 minute job.

Good call on that. It's most likely a metric thread though.

and only you would know what pitch/size the filter thread is. . . . .surprised its not something metric

I think the thread size is also printed on the oil filter on top. But Rich is right 3/4-16.

So you were able to find a detailed description of the threaded piece? Any chance you came across a parts number as ive been looking like crazy and only have found the housing assembly as a whole part and it doesnt even show the threaded nipple...!

And i think i understand what your saying about the two nuts, bringing them together gives me the torque to push it around tightly in the fitting then i can just reverse out the top one apart, then the other one and done.

    LOL!

No... I looked up the spec for the filter.

And ya... tighten the nuts against each other and they snug up in the threads and allow you to use the top nut as a driver to run the nipple in (conversely, the bottom nut can be used as an extractor).
Then put two wrenches on again and separate the nuts... should spin off by hand.

Genius! You guys rock. Yeah, its a 2012 OR no tow package so this is what i need just the straight threaded piece. I was almost flipping on the other diagram with the washer thinking i might had dropped that down the hole if there was one lol.

Good find. I buy from camelback Toyota but it seems like Village Toyota has better exploded diagrams.

I suspect it will not be a stock item given the rare need for it, but if it is in stock in Ontario, they can get it in 24.
Give Carson Toyota a call first thing. They're one of the few dealers I trust.
    Either them or Glendora.
I don't like Elmore and hate South Coast.

Wow that is a first for me too. I've never seen the nipple come out like that.

Interesting, ill have to see when i get the new one really if it has any pattern inside...got to think there was some way to get that thing tightened down originally...!

I ended up calling a dealership this morning ordered the part (the guy said he has never heard of anyone ordering this particular part) and it should come in tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Just want to get my baby back on the road (and stop having to drive a mini van lol!)

Ill take some pics of what i end up doing, hopefully in the rare chance this happens to someone else they will have the knowledge of my mistake....

This is the way. I used to work at a service station and changed a lot of oil. Had it happen a time or two.

From the looks of the video, though the Torx bit fit, it looked like it was a straight hex cut inside.
If so, that makes life easy.
