Glad I jumped on this, I figured it would be popular.

Sidebar, anyone know how to get the dimmer switch/rheostat out of the dash without removing the lower dash piece? I figure someone will need to know since this harness T’s in-line with that rheostat.

    Alright list has been updated!

Components are delayed but show that they'll be delivered Monday. I'll collect payment when they show up and will get them shipped out shortly after.

So I’ll say this, I have no idea how you guys get your dimmer switch out of the dash, I couldn’t do it even with the lower dash removed. Open to ideas that don’t involve Cajun voodoo, black magic, or removing the entire dashboard.

This guy made it look easy. I guess he just popped the dimmer off?

I tried with a couple of panel removal tools, can’t get the top and bottom wedged out at the same time. May try again when I have more time and patience. Everything is hooked up but illumination.

No fault to the OP making these harnesses, just some smartass engineer at Toyota putting a dimmer switch in a nigh impossible spot to get it out.

Have you attempted to leave the rheostat in its place and just disconnect the harness?

Cant reach the back side of it. I had the lower dash off, stuff my hand as far up there as I could reach and never touched it.

I may be being dense about this, or it could be big meat hooks and forearms wouldn’t fit. My wife couldn’t cram her hand far enough up there either.

This should make it easier. Looks like just 2 clips and that’s it. The switches will be stuck inside of the panel, though, so maybe just use this to unclip the connector.

Prototypes for the HVAC harness should be here this week.

This is good to know. I appreciate you going through the shitty stage of being one of the first to get these installed. I know a handful of other people have installed theirs and I haven’t heard anything about the installation difficulty. I’ll reach out and see if I can’t find some tips. Otherwise perhaps I can refine the harness.

I’ll report back when I get it dropped in, too doggone beat to rip back into it tonight.

My daughter had a slumber party yesterday and I was hosting a house of pre-teen little girls. Not enough coffee in the universe to keep up with all of them.

Could’ve gotten one of them to fit their small hands around the dash cover :boink:

Done, thanks for the help guys. Upper dash trim came off real quick, harness clipped right in like an OEM connector.

If I have one minor criticism, I would’ve made the provided pigtail about 6”-9” longer, but I added a bit of wire I had lying around. Otherwise, Cajun stamp of approval.
