This^ dealer told me "sure no problem, lets get you a truck at $500 over invoice" then tried to offer me $26k for my trade. Told them to kick rocks.

Ahh, I see what you are saying. There may be general trends in a region, but people are still getting better than the trend at certain dealers. There was about 3k difference in attitude from the two local dealers and I ordered about a month before they came out. I got the "high demand blah blah, can't order what you want blah blah" from one, and "sure, we can do that" from the other.

Right right...I ran thru the inventory at my local dealer and all the '16 ORs have a factory rebate available...even the ORs with no other installed options except tow package. To me at least that reflects demand is not as high as supply for the GST area.

A couple of thoughts about buying a new truck - 1) There are many ways of finding out what the dealer pays..Always start from there - NEVER - Start with MSRP. 2) Never base the sale price on your trade....Dealers have a whole lot more wiggle room if you do...3) Never trade in - Sell your vehicle outright (especially easy if you have an older Taco) You can use KKB or other references to find your price. Start with the high one.

Waiting for me new 7559, Built 11/23

Location does matter. SET, MST, etc. Have different dealer fees... On top of the other reasons.

My dealer (modern Toyota, WNC) gave me what I feel was a very fair deal. Far from the best on TW, but solid. DCSBOR 4x4 with premium tech + JBL and tow. 38350 sticker.

I had a trade, so I will include it. They can show money any way they want. 2013 DCSBOR with tow. (no entune) 38000 miles.

Trade deal was 9100 OTD. NC has 3% vehicle sales tax. Tag and transfer fees are around $120.

    How they showed the numbers:

    27500 trade value
    36350 new truck
    + TTL etc.
    = 9100 OTD

I picked up my SR5 double cab MGM Thanksgiving eve. I had ordered it in early October. $500.00 under invoice with no BS add-ons from Gulf States. The only add-on was a $200 documentation fee that they would not discuss removing. The dealer is Lakeside Toyota, Metairie, LA. I know I could have done better, but I'm OK with the deal. I spent hours negotiating the purchase of my last two vehicles (an '02 F150 and a '08 Tundra) but I didn't have it in me this time.

Don't feel depressed. Just to be clear, SET ( and likely Gulf States since they are both independent show even higher DPH) are using different "invoice" numbers than the those listed in the options thread since they don't have the same rules.

Also, some people say "invoice" meaning invoice + DPH, some not, some mean invoice that the dealer told them was invoice which for SET was at least 1000 more than the master list. Some people even say "invoice" when they are referring to "sticker price". If they don't give you an OTD price with taxes and fees listed, or don't give you an actual dollar amount with fees listed, "invoice" doesn't really tell the whole story and may even be purposely misrepresented.

The best thing is list the OTD price, trade value and vehicle/year, location(thanks Z50), taxes, any and all other fees.

You paid more than people in here because we get 60 degree winters, beaches, and mountains.

My dealer told me they wouldn't budge off the MSRP. They only had two Tacoma's on the lot and said they have no problem moving them so they weren't in a haggling mood at all, and trust me, I pushed them plenty. They found a truck similar to my needs but it had the Tow Package I didn't want so I did talk them into giving that to me free since I didn't ask for it. So cool... I have it in case I ever do need it. And they did come up twice for me on my trade-in so I feel I did ok.

Whether they added extras or not the bottom line is using Costco Auto I got a fully loaded TRD that I pre-orderd 8 weeks early for $400 over invoice. Does that sound like a good deal when I got the second 2016 sold in the state of Utah and I didn’t even need to do any negotiating at all after they said they would not go less then MSRP period? I got every add on I wanted and got a price no one I talked to could touch. I made out damn good.

Same in my area...I see these great deals but I know my dealer would have just told me to walk...I ended up getting 1200 bucks off msrp for my access cab trd or with nav and tow.

selling this way is the best... We were offered 500-600 for my Sentra. Posted it on Craigslist and had about 10 people interested in 2 hours. Sold it that night for 200 less than asking because we kept the sound system from the trunk

I didn't read all the posts on this topic, but wanted to share my two cents.

Just last week I bought Tacoma double cab, off-road. Premium package, tech package, and JBL. The sticker was like 38k give or take some pennies. They sold it to me for $36,880. If you ever trade it in, you will get a good chunk back.

Sorry I did post location in beginning. Milwaukee , WI
No trucks available on any lots in double cab other than a few SR packages. They claim supply and demand is keeping prices up
