I've seen the same trucking company deliver to Costco as the mom/pop joint down the road (on the same run). I wouldn't necessarily worry about the source of the gas but moreso the storage tanks at the station. the Phillips around the corner from my old house in OK had an issue with water in their tanks (friend filled his diesel and it started running funky, drained the tank and it was 25% water). He took them the jar of fuel and showed them and they acted like they didn't even care. I never used them again.

We have a TS machine on our wall in the store with sensors in the tank that tell you how much water is in the tank, 0 as of this morning.

Not sure about other stores tanks but ours won't pull the last 100 gallons out of the tank to keep the contaminants (if there are any) from being pulled out.

If you have a 1st gen Tacoma then the answer is yes, they do make a fuel tank door that uses your ignition key! I know because I have one.
Here is the door and here is the lock. Part numbers 77305-04020 and 69058-35140. You may need a lock smith to re-key it for you. I can tell you from experience though, the fuel door can be snapped open pretty easily. I had someone siphon my gas while at work and they broke my fuel door :(

Might be a good idea; in my beater corolla, since it's a closed system I haven't bothered, but I definitely need to after 254k, lmao. Should probably change my charcoal canister too :anonymous:

07 till like three years ago. Requires premium. That engine was notorious for carbon build up so I wanted to slow it down as much as possible.

My Ex brother-in-law owns over 85 gas stations. Some are BP, Star Fire and a bunch of no name places. I know he got all his gas at the same tank farm.
I never asked about how the gas additives
    Are put in.

I get fuel when possible at Shell, Exxon/Mobile or Chevron and don’t have great mileage it seems especially with the “winter mix” with the El Cheapos/Enmark/Parker’s etc.

Just run whatever, the gas is the same, the extra additive pack like detergent might not be, although all gas already has a federally mandated minimum level of detergent. The kinds of problems that can rise from lack of detergents in fuel will take like a decade to form. Run a bottle of fuel cleaner once a year and be done with it.

I buy what is available when out in the middle of nowhere. You don't have a choice.

But when around town, I still generally avoid the cheap ass gas, but I also avoid the overpriced Chevron etc brands, too. I've seen their prices 20 or 30 cents or more per gallon over what other stations are charging. To me, that's like paying $40 for that plain white T-shirt just because it's got a Nike logo on the tag.

I probably fill up with Arco most of the time. Been doing that since I was 16. I've never had to change a fuel filter or fouled injectors, etc...

I stopped going to Arco just because they charge extra for Debit. The 7/11 by my house doesn't so that's where I usually get my gas.

Yes, Arco charges like $0.45 for debit, but I'm pretty sure that's per transaction, not per gallon.

I just looked at GasBuddy and the Chevron near me charges $3.09/gal, and the Arco is $2.45/gal.

So even if it is a per gallon fee, it's still cheaper (at least in my area) to go with Arco.

There's also a Valero near my house that gets some of my money, too.

Old timers may remember Phillips gas stations and their insanely high octane "Phillips Flight Fuel" regular gasoline. Phillips made gas for planes too. Gas for planes have very high octane for reliability. Their one choice gas for cars wasn't on that level, but it was way way higher than the big name guys regular gasoline. This was back in the days when cars "knocked." Not so using "Phillips Flight Fuel", by golly. Of course, this was in the late 70's when there was just Regular gas, not the choices of today. Their Regular gas was like the highest you can buy today. Then came environmental changes in gasoline, and Flight Fuel was no more. There aren't even any Phillips stations here in So. Cal anymore.

Haven't read every reply but for me, I always get gas from Top Tier stations. I don't trust the ridiculously cheap no name gas. It's worth the extra few bucks per tank for the peace of mind in my book.
