Is this thread going to replace the "Tired of people approaching me ..." thread? And if so, should the OP feel pride or shame?

I wanted the three cylinder turbo from the GR Corolla and Yaris.

Toyota is dedicated to no premium in their standard models, so a 3 cylinder turbo would be dreadful.

I've only driven one GR and its a hoot, but the 2.4T feels great too.

If Toyota built a rwd regular cab 5lug 4G with a 6spd manual the 3 might work in there.

That right there. The turbo 4 banger may be faster, but I'll always be better looking.

I bought my Taco for reliability and off-road prowess; not for street or highway performance. I'm still a bit concerned about the long-term outlook for the 3.5 V6, but I'm religiously servicing it in the hopes my worrying is for nothing. I do wish Toyota had kept the 4.0L in the 3rd Gen Tacos, but oh well. I love my truck and to me that's all that matters. Enjoy yours and don't worry about what others think.

Some will come equipped with govt mandated “kill switches” (for your safety, ya know). How is that better than a “turd” gen?

I like it. It’s like the luxury truck and broverlander fads never happened and there are countries where you can still get a cheap regular cab 4x4 to do truck stuff.

Oh and MT isn’t reserved for premium models, either.

I don’t hate turbos- I had a turbo Subaru station wagon and that had lots of power and it did very well where I used to live at 7,000 ft elevation. As a Toyota, this hopefully will probably last a long time, but $4k may be easy money for some people to pay for replacement of a bolt-on accessory….

But if it pays for itself during its lifespan for savings in gas mileage, I’m in.

I was referring to maintenance and mostly the price per gallon,,,, it’s well over a dollar more per gallon, and has been for years, it was almost $2 per gallon more a year or so ago.
    No thanks
Enjoy if it’s for you though
