Many of these issues I just read could have been avoided with a test drive and people who didn't like it ... just not buying the f**king thing in the first place.

Seriously - who drops almost 40 large for something they didn't bother to try first? People who get what they deserve, that's who.

I ask myself the same thing although maybe not quite so blunt about it.

If the truck doesn't make you feel good after the first few test drives you likely won't grow into it later so don't buy it.

If you still buy it and have regrets later the problem is with your decision making process, not the truck they built.

Its getting bad, Im almost broke.
I wonder how many test driving folks were able to get out of the city for 40-50 miles on a test drive, while getting up to 60+mph through hills and such to experience the erratic shifting? #1, its almost impossible to do this on a test drive....#2 how many people on here would want their new Toyota with 300 miles on it becuase 5 or more people took a Long test drives on it? Its not that simple to figure out problems when driving a new rig on a short yeast drive. I certainly didn’t see it until i took it out of town for the first time.

Test drove the V6. Never noticed a power issue. Didn't expect it to get up and go with such a light tap of the foot.
Bought the 4 banger. Noticed the power lag. Didn't care :mudding:

I wonder how many people took multiple test drives in different trucks to make sure what they don't like is not confined to one truck, model or transmission?

I wonder how many people believe one 20 minute test drive provides ample information to fork over $35k?

I wonder how many think test driving a truck obligates you to buy right then?

Fyi, I took three months of test driving different trucks (not all Toyota) before I made my decision.

The first truck I looked at the last time I was shopping the salesman rode with and we did a short drive around town. We also had a debate about whether a different truck was 4wd or not (which I won)

The second truck the salesman tossed me the keys and said "go see what you think"

Second test drive had much more extensive testing and was actually probably a shorter drive. 12 years and 140k later with no regrets.

How am I not helping? Perhaps some future whiners will read it, see a beam of light and actually go try the truck before taking it off the rack. Maybe it will prevent yet another thread endlessly bitching about something that's their own damn fault.

    Or not.

Very true. Maybe I should post my comprehensive review of test driving all mid-sized trucks and my use case for my truck with how I came to the decision of the Tacoma

    High pressure dealers.

I was right out of college, just wanting to look around. Dealer was very high pressure, wanted me in that truck, to give me salvage price for my trade and out of there ASAP. Was very rude and tried to act like it was my fault when I declined.

Thankfully, my dealer did not pressure me. But this was also not my first purchase and I knew what I was getting myself into.

Sometimes you gotta know when to tell the stealership to politely STFU. Unless you knew you were going to purchase the Tacoma anyway... ;)

AMEN!!! I'm so tired of people whining and bitching about their truck. Everything that's mass produce will have some kind of issues here and there. Buy it and enjoy the crap out of it is the way I see it. If there's any problems...warranty should cover it. Zero headaches so why stress and complain. Just my 2 cents...

Researching the dealership is just as important as researching the truck.

Remember, it's your money and their job is to work a deal that feels good to the customer and the dealership, not protect trucks from test drives.
