With 275s, sliders, skids, front bumper I would only get about 265 a tank

My MPG is usually right on to .3 lower than what I actually get. The opposite of the Tundra I had, which usually said .7-.9 better than it actually got.

I rearranged the cluster displays, average mpg was not reset since... forever. stated before, I get 20-22 in city driving and holding traffic.

It depend on your average. When I was driving like a granny getting 18-20 mpg the cluster with say I get about 420 miles until empty, and once I started to get 14-16.8 mpg the cluster will say I get 385 until empty.

    Whoa!!

When I fill up it says 385 or so every time! Once it even said 400 something.

When I'm reality I only get 250ish per tank. Nice to see someone is as effed as me. You are lucky though - at least your display is accurate. I have to rely on tank level (60ish miles per 1/4 tank).

The miles to empty is based on the mileage you are getting after you fill up. For example, right after a fill-up.. If you do just in town driving watch your tank mileage...It will likely be in the teens. Note you miles to empty. Now fill-up and immediately get on a freeway where you are doing 60 (Mine will get 22-23 at that point)...Now note your miles to empty. Bottom line the miles to empty is determined by the average mpg you are getting - AS IT SHOULD BE. Clay

if this is desgined/calculated anything like my GTO, the distance to empty will change based on driving habits/characteristics.

For example, putt putting around town in the GTO, I get about 12 MPG. I would fill up and it would say something around 200 miles for "range."

However, if I fill up and jumped on the freeway for a road trip, it would change because I was getting 24 MPG. Suddenly it would be 400 mile range on the next fill up. It would also change during the drive...IE start at 200 mile range and jump to 360 miles.

You are correct but, the issue ideas having was, when you fill up your tank the indicator should tell you the amount of miles you could get with a full tank. In my case, the indicator would only tell me I could get the average of a half of tank. For instance, when you fill up it tells you you can go 400+ miles until empty. When I filled, it would tell me I could only go 200+ miles in total when the tank was full.

Look at those links - you should not be getting 13 mpgs on a stock OR. Even with my bad CPS mine wasn't that bad so even if MPGs aren't your concern (they weren't a big deal for me either and I just accepted it...) running that low is definitely indicative of a problem and I'd be shocked if you aren't running a rich fuel mix due to bad data from a sensor. I live in Nashville, so similar terrain/air density/humidity as you have in Birmingham and am now getting ~20 combined (after replacing CPS and cleaning MAF) and I have more stuff bolted onto my truck (300lbs+ of steps/racks/tonneau/more racks) than it sounds like you do....

I dont, it is showing 13mpg because it was never reset. This is what I get on my commute to work.

Yeah, I think I got close to that meandering my way down from the blue ridge parkway - mostly in 3rd coasting downhill. You could just do a battery reset that would likely clear it up, but then you'll be in for 1,000 miles or so of relearning fuel trims, shift points, etc., Not sure it would be worth it for a display that doesn't do much in terms of accuracy. Just don't let it get below 1/4 tank
