Okay, this is purely curiosity, and to see if anyone else has noticed this. I'm not concerned about the accuracy of the 'Distance to empty' or anything like that... I have a very set driving routine and it rarely varies by more than 10% in any given week, and is an almost 50/50 split of city and highway driving.

On my 2018 Tacoma, at each fill-up (after the first month or so), the truck would show 641km +/- one or two km. On my '22, it typically shows about 580km after filling up, but as the first quarter-tank or so is used, adjusts itself so that by time I'm at 2/3 of a tank, the total miles driven on the tank (distance to empty + trip odometer distance) is approximately 640km.

In other words, the distance works out to be the same, the mileage of the two trucks is virtually identical, so why the discrepancy in the 'Distance to empty' display?

Your new truck is still in it's 'learning' phase. Give it a few thousand miles and you will see it even out.

Sorry, forgot to add, this has been the same since it had about 1000km on it, now has over 10.

it's just a reference, not the gospel. too many variables to be the same in multiple trucks. tune, gearing, options, weight, summer fuel, winter fuel, driving habits, weather, etc... Ski

My fill up says 318 to empty. I routinely get 340 before the low fuel light comes on. YMMV.

I get all that, and I don't really care, I'm just curious and wonder if others have noticed it. For reference, both trucks were bone stock TRD Sports with identical accessories.

That's been my experience too, that is greater distance than indicated. What I noticed with my 2018 was that it started high, and gradually decreased at a fairly linear rate. The 2022 starts lower and initially decreases at a very slow rate, and then around the 3/4 tank level begins to change at a rate more like my 2018.
