Hello, my truck died in traffic. So I had it towed home. Pulled a plug and was not getting spark so I changed the distributor since the module is inside. Well I installed it per the instructions. Top dead center on compression stroke with rotor lined up with gear mark on distributor, basically rotor poimting up. When it is installed correctly the truck stumbles and stalls but has no cel or code??? So I manually rotated the distributor until the engine runs great. It turns out the this is one tooth advanced from where the directions say....truck now runs great but...I have a cel of crank sensor???? Truck runs for 10 sec and dies until it is warmed up then runs great???? I put a new crank sensor on and same cel and stall....also I replaced the MAF, TPS and plugs and wires as well as fuel filter. I'll be famed if I can figure this out. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

are you saying the distributor is one tooth off? TDC will get you in the ballpark to start but need to advance timing to proper degree to get it to run correctly. Also prob need to set the distributor to the exact spot then advance timing, then disconnect the battery to reset the computer and let it relearn the right operating parameters...

If you know all this stuff already or it doesn't apply to your vehicle my bad. I watched it a few weeks ago and found it really interesting...

Thanks for the reply guys! According to the distributor install procedure I would say I am 1 tooth off. Yes, I have time several cars before but this distributor isn't designed to be timed as the bolt holes are not adjustable...I'm wondering why I have to advance the rotor one tooth to get it to run good.

I'm still baffled... So to the shop it goes. Hoping it is something simple.
