disturbing transmission noises

Hey last couple times I've stopped at the top of a steep hill and popped my transmission back into neutral it sounds as though I'm ripping it out of gear, even though the clutch it fully depressed and the shift lever comes out smoothly. After the second time it happened i started leaving it in gear. Only happens on hills, hoped someone had an idea of what I'm hearing, any help is appreciated! And the truck is brand new, less than 500 miles on it

 

My guess is there is still some load on the transmission when you stop...let the truck roll backa little then shift out of gear and see what it does??

 

I'm not sure what it is you're describing. My last truck (B-3000) was a manual, and I never had what you describe. I do know that if you are on a hill, your truck should be in first gear, not neutral. That's just dangerous, and an accident waiting to happen.

first hand, I would say pilot bearing. but for you to have a 2012 toyota truck, instead of typing I would be heading right back to the dealership.
