It's pretty legit! You have to stream it through something. I had an Amazon fire stick ($40) and it worked fine. The only hard part is watching certain sports like NFL.

Noawadays you can get the free HD digital channels without the big ugly antenna on the roof and instead use one of the smaller in-home antennas that do just as good.

I don't recommend Amazon firestiks unless they have significantly upped the quality in the last year. They suck for anything longer than ~2hrs of playback as they seem to overheat easier. At that point they lag and screen picture gets poor. Only perk is they are ultra portable if you are going on a trip.

See the only reason I want it is to watch NASCAR (fox, MSNBC, Fox sports and NBC sports).

Look on their site at the packages and channels and whatnot and that'll give you an idea of what's available. You can even try it for a week for free, but you need to remember to cancel your subscription if you dislike it.

So you can test it on your PC and see if you like it. Just like streaming YouTube. If you do like it, you'd just need to get an Amazon Firestick or Roku or something similar. Those essentially turn "dumb" tvs into smart tvs. All you need is an HDMI port on your TV and wifi.

It's just a menu board and you have subscriptions and I wanted free no bill and easy to use. Roku was none of that.

Not sure on that. First I have heard of it. But I am sticking with what I know until the next crisis.

I use a PS4 for Netflix, Hulu, etc... My TV is from 2009, and the "smart" part of it is useless.

The Firestick is essentially the same thing though, as is most of those. It's just a friendly user interface to access all of the things you pay for i.e. netflix, hulu, sling TV, HBO, etc. It's not going to give it to you for free. Think of it like a smart phone with all it's various apps. Netflix, hulu, sling tv, are all apps on the firestick.

Yeah, but if you have to buy all this crap, may as well get basic cable?

I switched to PlayStation vue. It's great. $45 a month and comes with everything you'll actually watch.

Not necessarily. You only have to pay for the firestick one time, which is $40. Then pay for sling tv, whichisn't too expensive and it lets you pick what you want. You don't need any of the extra stuff if you don't want it.
