Hey guys, 2021 SR 4x4. Fox 2.0 coilovers up front. Stock rear leafs with an airbag set up that I will be uninstalling with Icon 0-1.5 inch 2.0 shocks.

    Parts on order:

Dobinsons light to medium load leafpacks

Wheelers rear leaf u-bolt flip kit with superbumps

My question is this; can I get away with reusing my current Icon rear shocks or do I have to go to a 1.5-3 inch shock?

According to Dobinsons, the rear leaf packs provide 2 inches of lift over stock. Is that .5 inch going to break me?

Based on what I'm seeing there is a chance I'll be topping the shock out.

Shocks are measured by stroke length so no idea what a 1.5-3" shock is, I think youre asking for a 1.5-3" over stock length.

You wont be able to install longer shocks unless you are installing longer bump stops as well and minimizing up travel. Your down travel will be limited by the shock or the leaf pack whichever comes first.

You realistically cannot install longer shocks without relocating them.

I currently have an icon that is for a 0-1.5 inch lift.

The Dobinsons leaf pack is supposed to lift the rear 2 inches.

I'm wondering if that half inch difference is critical and whether I'll need to go with a shock that allows for a 1.5-3 inch lift.

The problem with Icon is they hide behind BS marketing. the fact that they dont openly disclose their shock measurements for collapsed and expanded like EVERY other shock company is major red flag.

Whether you are lifted or not you can only fit a shock based on the factory geometry meaning all of these shocks being marketed for lifts are the same size as every other OE replacement shock or cant be used without other modifications. If you put in a longer shock than factory to compensate for lift you will smash the shock on uptravel, you would have to install a bump stop of equal length to protect the shock.

The easiest answer is you can use your current shocks or any other OE replacement.

Well I think you just saved me like 800 bucks. My main concern was just damaging the shock by running a taller leaf. It sounds like I may just be limiting the leafs downtravel?

Yup, you will just limit the down travel, conversely adding a longer shock would limit up travel. Because of the factory mounting locations you have a small window to work within.
