Referring to ‘making noise’, is the noise a low whine, mine just started with this noise and I’m thinking it’s the water pump?

I see you have a NONSTOP TUNING pulley, Do these really have any noticed difference?

I need a new water pump is it worth it to fork over more $ for OEM or will a autozone pump work the same?

I'm in the middle of doing this on my truck, is it necessary to remove the belt tensioner? It seems that one of the water pump bolts sits right behind the tensioner pulley. Also, about what size is the tubing for coolant drain holes?

No the pulley can come off of the tensioner it’s just a reverse thread

There are 10mm bolts and 12 mm bolts that hold the water pump onto the engine. The 10mm bolts are torqued to 80 inch-lbs. The 12mm bolts are torqued to 17 ft-lbs. Here is a youtube video to confirm this. Hope this helps everyone out!

I have an used engine with 100k miles. Engine is being prepped for installation. Is there a way to test if the original is still good or not?

More than likely it’s fine at that mileage, I had a 220k, 3k, and new all side by side and there really wasn’t a difference. The brand new one was a little harder to spin but even the 220k one was still ok to use

Should water pump be replaced at a certain mile interval or if your doing belts and pulleys?

I have 125k on mine and intend on doing belt and pulleys

I think as long as it’s not leaking it’s good

I’m doing a timing chain and water pump on an engine. The water pump has 2 bolts that extra long and go through the timing cover and are touching the chain tensioner swing arm. Is this normal. I’m wondering if I mixed the bolts up.

Hello all. Just finding the forum. I’m in process of replacing the original water pump in my 2008 v6, 303k miles:). Thank you to 05sctaco for starting thread almost 10 years ago, as well as all of the replies- very helpful! I wiped out the right side of pump last before starting reinstall of new pump and an odd shaped off white rubbery gasket came out on my rag… looks like the edge of it in 05 s taco’s pic (trying to upload) Question is, what is it and does it need to be there or need to be replaced? I’m at work now so don’t have pic of what came out but will try to take pic of it tonight…thanks in advance!

10B4A917-3352-4D9F-8232-3492B8566ED4.jpg Thanks guys. Here is the pic of what came out. I haven’t started to install new pump yet as I’m not sure whether this should be stuck back in there or just left out…..can’t see that it’s serving any purpose but ‍♂️

All of my 12mm bolts for the water pump have a sealant on them. Do I need to clean them and put thread sealant on them?
