The taper ended up being a development edit. I wanted them pretty tight, so they ended up against the cab mount without the normal leg length. Minimal change so I was okay with it. The dimple itself isn’t so rare, the 10 point star was inspired by something I saw online. The very rear ‘kickout’ isn’t much bigger than a large frisbee. I won’t be scraping up against trees, but did want a quick easy step up into the bed from the side.

I know everyone says that the frame is the same for a DCSB to a ACLB but I had to figure it out for myself I guess.
2019 Access Cab long bed, it’s fits!
Can finally start the real fabrication, on to the CNC plasma.

How did you determine the bend angle for the tubing?

I can't think of a single reason why they would not marry up fine. Sounds like a great, economic solution actually. If you watch the video they have where they test all the materials choices, the frame was the weak link where it bent inward under pressure from the 3 mounting points. It seems to me that a longer mounting plate spread out over a greater length of the frame would disperse the force of landing on the slider and do less damage to the frame.

Damn , only took me 1 year but they are done. wow I would say just buy them next time lol. I wanted to build them my self (cuz I can) mainly for "customization". I wanted 2.0" main tubing not the typical 1.75" and also to have them kick out 3" and up 5 deg only. But for all the work I'd say just buy them, especially if you want them bolt on. That was 90% of the work was making mounting plates, custom washers and bolts (5/8" big boy bolts). I also ground off the stock rivets for the cross member just so I can utilize the 4 extra mounting bolt holes.

This would have saved so much time on a cnc table ... I spent so much time on my mill/drill press making the dozen or so holes. I intentionally went with hot roll cuz I knew it would be easier

Welp.... 257lbs of raw materials later and I’m getting started. Now begins the fun of building my own sliders/steps. Hopefully they come out the way I’m hoping them to. All 3/16” plate and 2” SQ 3/16” wall tubing. Let the fun begin.9B334355-E729-4D7A-BC2A-2C9CD504B50F.jpg

Yeah its a bit of over engineering for sure but it should make for a strong connection between the frame plates and the sliders/steps once they are all done.

Got a few pieces welded up today. Making some pretty good strides towards the finished product. Thankful to @1 Bored Clerk for the CAD Files and @Simpletonfor converting them for a 3rd Gen. hopefully this will all work out well. Had to get creative since there weren’t any shops close that had a bender for the plate. 523EA1A1-218C-48D1-AA1B-79477AF9E521.jpg 1F7F5157-55CD-446E-9A06-C9375E4568D8.jpg 7918BAC5-05A1-4A2D-87B1-01F0056A307D.jpg 4A8A1604-6FD3-4E87-8B4E-E3DC450B2DD6.jpg

Okay update and I’m getting closer to being done. Got a lot of the passenger side done now. Just need to add the last support tube and the bottom protection. 72AF2F80-D89E-49F2-9172-C0B3ED04C262.jpgD9CF222B-466A-455F-98E0-1E69B443E982.jpg310EE601-D644-4A6D-8E24-A2C50C08E5E5.jpg90E04387-EEA0-476A-BA9E-8FAF14296C90.jpgCB5818F6-076A-4C99-B130-FFF99E52DEBB.jpg7A25EE12-EF07-4536-8557-D8AE169EFCBD.jpgC792B0DE-8A28-4479-B482-CBE272347B1A.jpg

this all looks amazing. wonderful work. are you going to do anything to add some texture to the top to keep it from being slippery when covered with mud or water?

Thanks man. Yeah I have some 3M safety walk tape (like skateboard Grip tape) that ill be cutting to fit on the top. nice thing is that I can replace it if it gets torn up or becomes too smooth.

I am glad this is moving to the top again. I was just looking for these cad files for the brackets that go on the frame. I plan on trying my hand at DIY sliders this spring with the watchful eye of my uncle that owns a machine shop.

haha I have 2 chucks for my drill press. It’s an easy way for me to not lose the key for them (when I’m not using it)
