Here is the schematic for this mod if you want to have control with your DRL switch on the steering column.

do you have an actual video of these components all hooked up. Even just use a dewalt battery for demonstration.

I worked up a circuit that is less complicated and provides much the same result. It requires four 1N5400 diodes, and two 6.2ohm 10 watt resistors. These are general purpose parts and are available at any good electronics parts place.

    DRL lightning.jpg

Cut the positive wires to the front TS bulbs, and install the parts as shown. Observe polarity on the diodes.

In the DRL mode, the 6.2 ohm resistors will reduce the brightness of the front bulbs so they will operate at about 15 watts each. When the turn signal is operated, the bulb will flash full bright (29 watts). Diodes D1 and D4 prevent both of the front signals from flashing together in the TS mode, and diodes D2 and D3 keep the rear signals from illuminating in the DRL mode. If the front bulbs are not bright enough in the DRL mode, change the resistors to 5.2 or 5.6 ohms.

This circuit is designed to work with the stock 7444 amber bulb. If you have an LED conversion, it may/may not work.

That’s cool and all, and sure it’ll work for the 2nd gen DRL bulbs. But 3rd gens have a LED drl and some complex circuitry board. This mod will not work on ours.

No need to apologize. I didn’t read the entire thread either.. oops. I thought Op was modding the OEM led boards. In fact your diagram would probably work for this. I don’t like having 2 different DRL color lights on but that’s jist me.

So... Maybe I'm dumb or missing something but I'm 90% sure my SR5 already does this. I know that the headlights are different with higher trim levels, but is this a case where the SR5 did something that TW likes stock?

How can you wire up the signals to run as DRLs with the led DRLs staying on instead of off while in blinking mode?

The DRLs will be be illuminated as long as the DRL switch is on. When a turn signal is operated, the bulb will momentarily flash full bright, and then be in the DRL mode between flashes. The unoperated signal will stay in the DRL mode when the operated signal is flashing.

Ok I figured that. But that didn’t answer my question.

I guess my question is, while operating a turn signal, do both LED DRLs(left and right)stay on?

It's hard to see, but if you look at the wall when the hazards are on, you can see the led lights are not blinking.

So which wiring diagram will keep the LED strips on when the turn signal is triggered?

Both will keep LED strips static with blinker on.
