I rarely look at the camera display after all these years of using the mirrors.
That said, the one time I do use and really appreciate it is for hitching up a trailer.

@Cabos I don't know where you are located or how your vehicle is equipped, but since you like this type of stuff may I suggest another very similar mod. When I was driving my very new vehicle across several very frozen States during December my front grill radar froze over and all cruise control stopped working. If you live in a place that freezes during the winter, consider a washer spray on the front Toyota Emblem to keep the ice from forming a layer too thick for the radar. It was my thought at the time for my first mod, haven't been in freezing weather since so it has been very far down on my list of mods.

Thanks, I'm in BC Canada, thanks for great advice, the sensors do get blocked and sent error messages, but it's ok, on snowy and slippery condition, we don't want it works either, due to the sudden break engagement is much more dangerous than a dirty sensor. But if someone really need a clean sensor, your advice do help a lot for sure! Cheers:)

Also I believe every car have RCC, can be switched to normal CC mode, in case u really need CC, u can use normal mode without radar engagement. I really don't use CC or RCC in any bad weather which can cause sensor fault, focus on driving only, but thanks a lot for this great idea.
You are right, people in different living area , have different basic needs, that's why more and more new cars sold in Canada , have heat steering as standard function, but not in US.;)

U know what I just compared tacoma with new tundra, the sensor on 2022 Tundra are far more easy to be blocked, the front bumper can hold more snow for it to get block and wayyy low...
I think we will see more YouTuber post that if they drive tundra in super cold snowy weather. Nice u point that out!

Yea I've had the same thing, and many other people on here have complained about the headlights not getting hot enough to melt the snow/ice either.

I like the idea of the headlight washers, the rear cam washer, and now that you mention it, a "sensor defroster".

Pretty cool ideas flowing from this thread.

When I was in freezing weather the vehicle was so new to me, I did not know how to change from the Adaptive Cruise Control to the regular Cruise Control so the following maybe completely wrong. When I have had the radar sensor disconnected as in working on the grill or air conditioning both Cruise Controls do not work. My theory is that Toyota does not trust anyone to use their own judgement and deactivates any possibility of cruise control because the "BRAKE" warning is also not available. I may not be in freezing conditions to test this theory for some time.

When sensor warning light up, here in Canada i always clean it first if possible, if gets dirty again quickly, we don't disconnect plug, just let it light up there, it will back to normal once cleaned. if really need CC, can push the CC control, there is MODE and arrow shows on CC switch, change to CC normal mode in seconds, CC can work but not ACC. Have a 2013 Lexus, same thing, other brand don't know... yep, new car always have some functions new ,something we don't want pay for, here or there... :)

Yea, tbh I could care less about it, just a cool idea. I had a previous Subaru where that stuff was waaaaay too invasive and borderline dangerous. Had it brake for me 3 times in the 7 months I owned it. The Tacoma has never bothered me at all with it. I feel like the Tacoma works as it should vs the Subaru that was way too aggressive. A leaf could blow in front of your car on the highway at 70mph and it would brake

Plus, the sensors were actually cameras in the windshield... So anytime it rained or was foggy, they would disable and the light on the dash would consume everything.

So glad the taco isn't that bad. I can deal with it on this truck. Lots of complaints about the Subaru "eyesight" and auto start/stop.

Why even add an extra switch? Wire the secondary pump to the stock one. Every time you spray your windshield it will spray the camera too.

Good idea, was thinking about that but due to I need use a lot in logging road some times, so don't want carry much. Another switch can save some.
at least Subaru knows put a backup cam washer nozzle for their new cars
