    Looks like cool stuff. If I have the need to remove mine again, I may try it. The reapplication of tape was, by far, the most time consuming part of this process.

    Not sure if anyone is even watching this thread, but would anyone advise/advise against touching up the final product with a little bit of rubbing compound to flatten out the "orange peel" look?

    I haven’t but I imagine that would look good. The tailgate is pretty cluttered with stock badges so I think that would work

    I’m getting ready to put mine back on with 3m VBH heavy duty mounting tape. Sorry if it was said ( of is this is dumb question) but does the outside temperature have any affect of how they adhere?

    Hey OP! sweet write up man. I have a question, how is that tape holding up? I have experience using it and given certain surfaces Heat/water tends to make it fail. Just thought I'd see if the tape works well 9 years later/ if you ever lost badges on a trail because of the tape haha.

    I had the exact same problem when I painted my skid plates recently, except it only did it on the black Rustoleum paint, and not the red Rustoleum paint. I used a Rustoleum clear coat and it was over a week since I had last painted it. I'd like to know how to prevent this in the future.

    This thread has been around a long time so there must be some good feedback in the various adhesives used by members. I’d like to hear particularly about the various 3M products holding up.

    Second, I need to reattach the wife’s Acura emblem to the trunk lid. It has very deep recess in back that seemed to be filled with very thick adhesive. I can’t see how any of the 3M products would do the job.

    I’ll post an emblem pic ASAP.
