Does new Wheels count as a mod? lmfao
We just used the 1 kit so only 1 gallon and to be honest there was quite a bit left. We used it but didn't need to. I wasn't sure if I would like it just wanted to see what it would look like with the cover red. I probably will cover it and repaint it at some point, but right now its almost flawless lol. I don't drag stuff in and out of the bed hardly at all, but when it starts looking sorry its pretty easy to take off and recoat. I'm pretty happy with the job not sure I like the fuel door but its done now lmfao.

yep, im not loving the fuel door either but to each his own lol

since you have extra left over you can do a stripe along the bottom edges of fenders to protect from rocks and stuff

We talked about that, but I think we are going to let our friend in springhill do vinyl. I want to put some kind of wording in it and cover a couple small paint chips. Great minds think alike

well tape off what you want it to say, then paint over it and you have best of both, good protection and the wording you wanted

One more question, did you peal the tape of after each coat and then retape it, or did you just peel it off at the end?

We peeled it off right after the last coat while it was still wet. It came right off and left a nice line.

3 hours in the florida sun. It was hard as a rock and super dry even where we applied it very thick.

Looks good. Keep us updated with how it holds up. Maybe this next summer I might do this to mine.

one note of caution with masking tape, if you let it sit in direct hot sunlight for 3 or 4 days it can be hard to remove and the glue residue may stay behind when you do. I learned this lesson doing body work, you don't want masking tape to harden on your truck or it wont come off.

as long as you peel it off within a day or two its not a problem so don't leave it on for several days and then go to try to peel it off. if its left in a garage then you could leave it on there for a whole week.

that sad, its best to peel it off after each coat when its still wet so it doesn't pull off with the tape and peel it off in an upward motion so any strings of coating will retract into the paint and won't just hang down.

tape is cheap so peel the tape off after each coat

Yep Tape came right off. No issues. Great advise from @keakar . Definitely best to do it all in one day if you can so you don't have to worry about the tape. Peel it off right after you second coat while it's still wet and it makes a very pretty nice line.

Yeah I hate that stuff it always leaks and never ever makes a great seal where you don't want paint. At least in my experience it sucks. I bought the cheapest masking tape from Ace Hardware I could get lol. It was like 2 bucks for 60 yards. It came off perfect and left no sticky residue and didn't peel any paint. I have tried that blue junk so many times it just doesn't work for me. Or maybe :der: I don't work for it. In either case this worked like a charm.

Looks good man, you will have to keep us all updated on the duribility. I've been wanting to do this, especially with the Utah winters, i don't want my bed rusting out underneath the bed liner... That is one benefit to the 2nd and 3rd gens, great engineering on the beds if you ask me.
