ive been trying to decide which route im going to take on a diy bed liner, after reading the previous thread about "restore" home depot product, it doesnt look like ill be going that route.

    here are my two thoughts:
either duplicolor kevlar bed liner or the herculiner liner(which has rubber in it)

    anyone tried either one?

anyone have any thoughts on how i should prep the bed surface?

ill be posting picture as soon as the rain stops here, and the progress i make with this project

I've had my eyes on the Raptor DIY kit....looks good from the pictures I've seen. The Herculiner stuff seems too shiney/glossy IMHO.

Let us know what you decide to go with. A buddy of mine did his in Rustoleum with the roll-on kit and he says he's happy with it. I gotta get a good look at it sometime though. I'd like to coat truck's my bed this summer just for the hell of it.

I did the herculiner kit. It comes with everything you need. If you buy the one kit it comes with a gallon to do the bed. It was enough for me to do two good coats. Now that i'm done and can see the results i am buying another gallon. The first two coats are ok if you don't really do anything harsh with your bed but i'm in the logging industry and two coats isn't even close to the professional coatings you get. I think with two gallons it'll be exactly what i want. My herculiner isn't shiney at all. looks like a flat black to a really dark gray.

I did the Raptor liner last summer and the finished look is great, but as stated before, as with all DIY liners it is thin. I didn't have the coin for line-x or the like and there were some small rust spots forming, so I sanded, primed and applied the bed liner. I also only got two good coats out of the four bottles in the kit. I borrowed an air compressor and used the gun included in the kit. Again, I like the look of the results, but I will likely reapply in the near future.

I just did mine with the rustoleum spray in bed liner and it came out awesome.

Prep is going to be the same for any bed liner, scuff the paint with 80grit wipe it out with mineral spirits (or similar) and roll/ spray it in
