I got a quote like that too. Then I found a big shop that does nothing but cut and bend steel and got a really good price. I use them for everything now.

I am working with 1 Bored Clerk for the DCLB plates. And from looking at if you have access to a plasma cutter it could be done manually, the perimeter cuts are all straight. It's drilling the holes that would be tedious.

Sorry I haven't made any headway with second templates yet. I have been busy on weekends for the past few montha. But as soon as I get a day I'll mock them up and take measurements.

Hey, we're all doing this on our free time. No apologies necessary. I'm just glad I don't have to do all the work myself!

The best way to do these would be to get a group to go in on it and have multiple cuts done all at once. You would be surprised at the price difference of having one set laser cut vs 5 sets.

If 1 set is $295 (Which is high) then 5 sets would be about $150 each.

I imagine if you really had more time than money you could cut these out with an angle grinder and use the whiskey bend method on the bends. It would be quite a bit of work though.

Cutting and bending these by hand would bring the major suck! Everyone needs to remember that this isn't necessarily a cheaper way to go than buying prebuilt sliders, it just gives you the option to make something custom without the guesswork and, typically, intimidating process of designing the frame plates. That being said, several people have been able to build really inexpensive sliders with these plates.

Just finished reading through this full thread, great work on the frame plates and props for putting your hard work out there to share with the TW community. I'll definitely be hitting you up for those files in the future, just not sure how soon I'd be able to undertake this project as I'm swamped with home reno's and two other project trucks at the moment. Keep up the great work, those are some sexy, functional sliders!!

Just out of curiosity, what's the over-all length on your DCSB frame plates? Wondering if I've got the table length on one of our CNC mills at work here. Thinking about the possibility of cutting these plates out on the mill as it would cost me nothing other than material and a bit of time.

Thanks for the compliments! I think we're sneaking up on having BCLB slider plates. I've got two people working on that right now. Then, I'd LOVE to get some plates out for the RC folks. Haven't found any takers on that project, though.

File requests are picking up now that the sun has come out and the temps are working their way up into the 'comfortable' range. I need to see a LOT more photos or links to slider build threads in this thread! Also, if there is anything that you folks would like to see changed about this thread to make it more useful, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks, man. But this is how I get everyone to think I'm a decent guy before I turn into a total A hole. Haha.

I'm CRAZY backed up at work for the next couple of days. I'll get everyone's file requests handled as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience. That's what I get for going on vacation, I guess! :D

I owe you an apology Patrick. I cut and formed the side plates for the DCLB and have not had a chance to get them bolted up. They are very close but need some of the holes fudged around. Again I am sorry it's taking so long to get the changes back to you.

Not a problem at all! This is just for fun and very low in the priority ranking of life. It'll get done eventually! Maybe I shouldn't hope for getting them done sooner...I'll have more requests for files to fill! On that note, is it possible to attach a downloadable file to a post in a thread? I'd love for this to be self serve.
