Oh and I was wondering about what you paid for the powder coating of the sliders.

Oh man, that was a looking time ago. I don't remember. I would assume somewhere in the $200-$250 range.

Dang I might have to go the rust oleum bed liner route

Yeah, powdercoat isn't cheap but it holds up better than anything else I've tried. If you don't mind touch up and the occasional removal, stripping and repaint, then spray paint and rust-oleum bed liner works just fine.

I’m slowly finding out it may have been easier to just buy some sliders. I sourced my metal for more than I should’ve and I’m blowing paychecks on bolts lol. I’m about $600 / $1400 right now though so we’ll see.

DIY can get outrageously expensive. I'm in a really good area for steel so the prices are pretty reasonable. Powder coat isn't terrible either. DIY is great if you just want something different than what's available on the market but it's easy to outspend a ready made solution in a lot of cases...especially if you value your time or have very little of it. Every project I do, I find myself evaluating why I did it and what I got out of it. Helps make future decisions easier. FYI, I buy more solutions nowadays.

This project was originally meant to be for the Texas FFA shows, but most of them are cancelled or constantly rescheduling, so the hope that I could win scholarship money or prizes is basically gone. Fortunately I’m in the same boat as you are and the sliders I wanted ship $1200 so I’ll definitely save a little bit of money, and if not my friends may buy them!

Man, I'm sorry about your scholarship options drying up. That would have been really cool. Glad you still look to be "under budget" so far!

They just brought it in the door but I’ve never thought they made a printer this Big. Just stoked to try to print in real size. Hopefully before the New Year. Hate to have a paper jamb with this Rascal. Paper is bigger than a bedsheet, Lol

They said they need to get an Electrician in to add another circuit. The Co. service guy is supervising the install so likely after the Holidays. I’ll post some pics once it’s all out of the boxes & set up.

Our son has a welder. It’s either this or another go-kart frame.

    Thanks @1 Bored Clerk !!
I ended up buying a tube bender and this still came out cheaper then what I would pay getting sliders shipped to Canada, Plus I learned A LOT!

This is version 1.5 since my first version was too narrow / close to the pinch weld. I extended them out another 2" and I feel this is perfect.

Both Myself and @Canoehead used your plate and now have awesome sliders

    Cheers!

I painted them the 1st time with Rustoleum bedliner. It was "OK" but not my fav.
I don't want to powder coat them since it would be chipped off the first time I hit a rock
What I have on them now is POR15. the "semi gloss" I bought turned out way glossier then I wanted, but hopefully the sun will fade them a bit ( which is what I hear POR15 does in the sun without a top coat )
