    Never enough
Sounds like you may have overloaded the circuit when you added the additional switch. Don't be surprised if the problem continues and you continue to blow that fuse.

Agreed. Going to see if it holds up moving forward. If it doesnt, then I can just unplug the newly added switch and figure out another solution later. Not a big deal if it doesn't illuminate.

    Hi all.

My local shop can get SXL wire for me. If I order 12 gauge for some accessories will I have any issues connecting to the RTMR or to the waterproof connector jackets? Early in this tutorial I saw that 10ga wire had to be TXL in order to fit in the waterproof connections. Maybe 12ga can be SXL.

    TIA

Is Waytek still considered a good source for the MetriPack stuff and GXL wire?

I discovered a 6-way MetriPack 280 connector while searching for suppliers. The delcity.net website has them as well as GXL wire with no minimum quantities if that matters to anyone. Also free shipping over $99.

Actually they only have the female end. The guy didn't know why they didn't have the male part.

They do have a 7 wire connector though in male and female...

Here is the group buy. Once I finish reading this thread I might drop out though and go the DIY route.

Not every Metri-Pack connector has a mating in-line connector. This is because many are for specific purposes. Here's a quote from www.metripack.com on the FAQ page:

Hi, 4Runner guy here and new to this forum but active on T4R.org.

First of all - props to @tacozord. Likely one of the best how-tos I have ever seen! I have been busy reading and researching parts for the last week.

I messed up and bought a pre-wired Bussman Box from eBay (bodoke0326) thinking I could save myself some time and parts for the central fuse box. Nothing wrong with the product I bought, however I didn't realize until it arrived that it uses a 15303-5-2-4 Bussmann box (one internal bus) where as tacozord uses the 5303-2-2-4 box (two internal buses). Also the wiring is done differently.

Here is a picture of the one I bought from eBay. Notice how it has a number of black ground (I think) wires in the middle of the box going to a common ground battery lead. I believe the one bus terminal is wired to the positive battery cable.

My question is that I want to wire the relay accessories, fuse-only accessories, and switch wires the same way as in tacozord's tutorial. I don't understand how the fuse-only bus vs. separate buses for fuse and relay work on the 5303-2-2-4 work; but is it just a matter of adding a blue sea 5 gang common mini buss but not connecting it to the terminal in the 15303-5-2-4 (since it doesn't have an extra terminal)?

Apologize in advance for being wiring illiterate.

Ebay one uses 8g wire for positive lead this chart shows 4g more appropriate , OP agrees in his build

If you have 80amps and a 3ft cable then 6ga works with 3% drop.
If you prefer 1% voltage drop then same requires 3ga.

If you run RTMR to opposite side of the engine bay the length will be more like 6ft. For this you need 4ga at 3% drop and 1/0ga at 1% drop.

I use a free spreadsheet I found online but this online calculator is also nice. Or this one.

Thus the eBay one is underwIred as 8g doesnt show up on chart til you get down to 40amps probably rare but I would like the ability to run several of the accessories at same time without worrying about the wire heating up

Edit: no longer see the pre-wired bussmann 15303 on ebay

Takeaway? Build the OP one (best) or buy the other one from sandman614 or yotamatic

We use 4ga welding cable (made in the US) on all our kits. Its extremely durable and has superior voltage/ amperage capacity. Our kits are in Baja race buggies and hold up well to the elements.
