So what are examples of wiring that need a 5 pin relay?

Turn signals, on/on accessories, not much that is useful on a road vehicle. They'd be more useful on a buggy or the like.

I'm using 2 5-pin relays to operate the cab and shell windows. If I ever fill up the bussman I could switch to a single 8-pin relay.

Yup. Lots to do and no time to work on things but I have an ever growing pile of parts to play with. It's very awkward to open the rear slider in an AC from the the front seats and impossible to open the shell slider.

    Off topic....sorry
But, I have plans on installing one of those ooogah horns. I know....but my great grandfather always had on in every truck he owned. So, since this 2017 is the first new truck I have ever bought, I want to honor him by installing one in mine.

So, what sort of button will work for me? Since it takes a push and hold type of a button....and I want to use a oem style button like i have for my future light projects.......i dont think the on/off type of button will work? Ideas?

    Thanks

Nice job. Would probably take me about 6 months too. I like those switches. Where did you find them?

Thanks man. Could definitely be done in a couple days if you're not easily distracted like I am.

The rockers are the L series on otrattw. They are a bit different than the ones in the write up with 4 terminal connections instead of 5. IIRC there is only one common ground for the switch instead of a separate for the switch power and the LEDs. This means they aren't dimmable with the trucks rheostat via the method shown in the write up( Im not sure if there is another way but I didn't really try to hard to figure it out). At the end of the day the switch leds come on with my accessory lights, and they aren't really bright so I don't feel the need to dim them anyway.

I'm easily distracted. It took me about 6 months to make my sliders and weld them on.

I like those switches a lot more than the other type. They're too bulky for my taste.

That's what I thought too. The L series is a lot slimmer I think they match with the interior a bit more. they are pretty new on the otrattw site so I don't think many people have used them yet

What components do you recommend hooking up to the non relayed always powered side of the Bussman? Just curious.

Personally I'm less concerned about whether a relay is involved than whether it's something I'll use when not driving. My compressor and sliding rear window mods come to mind, possibly some lighting beyond the cap/cab lights. Obviously if I were planning extensive auxiliary power use(such as for camping) I would include a deep draw battery. Non relayed power use might include under hood and/or suspension lighting, CB radio, USB power. There are plenty of examples of power uses that might be nice to have without running the motor or having the key in the ignition.

Finally ordered cable/wire crimp tools thanks to some Christmas gift cards. The next order will be for the actual metri pack connectors. Hopefully some free time will appear on the horizon.

Built my RTMR out for my 2017 trd off-road . Using the mounting plate from pelfrey. Still missing my male metripac terminals. So I took it out to the truck to do a a trial fit and it’s goiing to be almost impossible to screw in the bolts to mount the plate due to no clearance between buss bars and the 90 degree of the bracket. No room to get a wrench in. Also will be impossible to open the fuse box underneath if something goes wrong. Anyone have a recommendation on an easier way to install this thing?

LOL. How do I delete a post. Just went back and looked at photos. I have everything mounted upside down. Back to the garage!!!

Well dang. I swapped everything upside down and the palfrey panel is not meant to be mounted this way. The cutout for the washer fluid is now on the wrong side. Sigh... Need to get a different panel. This palfrey panel is worthless. I have no idea how anyone would use it.
