@EatSleepTacos naüt sure if you thought about this yet, are you gonna make a small tab or something to push in the little button by the latch so the truck doesn’t thing the door is open all the time? It might not be nessesary though, I know a light comes on in the cluster but I’ve never driven with my door open so idk if it beeps or anything.

I have thought about that potential issue. I don’t *think* that it beeps, but like you I’ve never driven very fast with my door partially open. My plan is to drive as it is now and see if it beeps. If it does, it’d be easy to weld a 90° tab that pushes down on the button.

Hell, I may do that anyways because it’ll be a cool feature. Plus it’ll keep the dome light off.

What did you use for the latch?

It’s linked in the OP. I welded 1.5” flat bar to connect the latch to the tube itself.

@EatSleepTacos That top tube seems low. Can you rest your arm on it comfortably while driving and holding the wheel with your left hand? Or would you need another tube that comes up and inward?

To be honest I’m not sure, didn’t even check, but it’s probably too low. That wasn’t a priority of mine with these. The way it is right now it comes up just above my legs when I’m in the seated position, which will allow maximum visibility while still some level of “privacy”. I always felt naked when I was driving my wife’s old Jeep with no doors and people could see my legs.

Edit: plus I generally have my left hand on the wheel and right hand on the shifter.

#chickenlegs will do that to you.

I was just thinking about when you're driving to/from wheeling. My comfortable, cruising position is with my left elbow on the door, holding the wheel between 9 and 12.
